Responsibilities:
As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will:
- Assist in admission and discharge of patients.
- Perform various treatments and procedures under the direction of a Registered Nurse according to nursing standards.
- Attend to patient’s physical needs.
- Assist in maintaining a safe, clean comfortable environment.
- Assist with pre-procedure preparation and post-procedure care according to facility standards or as directed by a Registered Nurse.
- Take and records vital signs.
- Assist with the orientation of staff and students.
Qualifications:
We are looking for candidates who possess:
- Successful completion of a recognized Licensed Practical Nursing Assistant Program.
- Active or eligible for registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Prince Edward Island.
- Demonstrate application of knowledge of client’s physical, psychosocial, emotional, and spiritual needs, which includes clients with chronic illnesses.
- Current CPR/BCLS, TLR, WHIMIS All Hazards Codes, and annual recertification's required.
- Demonstrate a professional presence and model professional behavior.
- Knowledge of chronic illnesses required.
- Capable of sustained physical activity.
- A good previous work and attendance record.
- Demonstrate an alignment with Health PEI’s Mission, Vision, and Values, including honesty and integrity in personal and professional behavior.
Preference will be given to applicants with recent acute medical experience.
