Job Overview
North 52 Community Services is seeking hands-on Child & Youth Workers to support youth in a residential care setting in Prince George. These roles involve active supervision, structured routines, and trauma-informed support for youth with developmental and complex needs.
This is a high-engagement position requiring consistency, clear boundaries, strong teamwork, and the ability to work independently while supporting up to two youth in a shared living environment. Staff must be confident making decisions, managing behaviours, and maintaining structure both collaboratively and when working alone.
Available Shifts
- Day Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM — $27.44/hr
- Evening Shift: 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM — $27.44/hr
- Awake Night Shift: 12:00 AM – 8:00 AM (fully awake position – sleeping not permitted) — $24.90/hr

Key Responsibilities (All Shifts)
- Provide continuous supervision in accordance with care plans and consistency guidelines
- Support daily routines including hygiene, meals, and medication administration
- Maintain a safe environment and actively prevent hazards or unsafe situations
- Use CPI and trauma-informed approaches during dysregulation or escalation
- Support community outings and transportation, ensuring public and youth safety
- Complete required documentation, logs, and incident reports
- Communicate clearly and consistently with team members and on-call leadership
- Work collaboratively within a team environment while also being able to independently manage shifts, make sound decisions, and maintain structure when working alone
Recreational & Community Activity Responsibilities
Recreation and community engagement are a core part of this role. Staff are expected to lead, participate in, and supervise activities rather than observe from a distance.
Activities may include:
- Swimming and aquatic activities, including close supervision and active participation
- Outdoor activities such as walking, parks, playgrounds, sledding, and community exploration
- Structured play and games, both indoors and outdoors
- Cultural, recreational, and community programs as appropriate
- Supporting positive social interactions and modelling appropriate behaviour in public settings
Staff must be comfortable:
- Staying physically active during shifts
- Providing constant supervision in busy or stimulating environments
- Using redirection and front-loading to support regulation during activities
- Supporting transitions into and out of activities smoothly and safely
Shift-Specific ResponsibilitiesDay / Evening Shifts
- Support school routines and transitions, including preparation, drop-off, and pick-up
- Lead structured daytime and after-school activities
- Support meals, hygiene routines, and bedtime preparation
- Provide redirection, emotional regulation support, and consistent boundaries
Awake Night Shift
- Maintain continuous overnight supervision
- Respond to night waking, early rising, or dysregulation
- Support early morning routines, hygiene, and breakfast/lunch preparation
- Complete overnight documentation and conduct safety checks
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience working with children or youth in care or support settings preferred
- Diploma or Degree in Child & Youth Care, Social Work, or related field preferred
- CPI certification (required)
- First Aid / CPR (required)
- Food Safe certification (required)
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence
- Clear Criminal Record Check
- Strong communication, consistency, and documentation skills
- Gender-Affirming Care Training
- Suicide Assist (ASIST)
