We are building a team focused on safety, quality, accountability, and long-term relationships with our clients and communities. As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Project Manager to help lead the successful delivery of our projects throughout Northern British Columbia.
The Opportunity
Reporting to General Manager and Project Management, the Quality Control Technician will be responsible for field and laboratory testing of asphalt and aggregate materials, monitoring production quality, and supporting crusher and aggregate source control activities.
The successful candidate will work closely with paving crews, plant personnel, crushing operations, and project management teams to ensure materials meet contract specifications and quality standards.
This position is seasonal full-time, with compensation and duration dependent on experience, qualifications, and workload.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Control & Testing
· Perform asphalt sampling and testing in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
· Conduct aggregate sampling, gradation analysis, moisture testing, and other required quality control procedures.
· Maintain accurate testing records, reports, and quality documentation.
· Identify quality concerns and communicate corrective actions to operations personnel.
Asphalt Plant & Paving Support
· Monitor asphalt production to ensure compliance with mix design requirements.
· Perform field testing during paving operations.
· Coordinate with plant operators and paving crews to address quality issues in a timely manner.
· Assist with mix adjustments and production troubleshooting as required.
Aggregate & Crusher Control
· Monitor aggregate production and stockpile management activities.
· Conduct routine testing to verify compliance with specification requirements.
· Support crusher setup and production adjustments to maintain product quality.
· Track aggregate sources and maintain quality control records for material production.
Safety & Teamwork
· Promote a strong safety culture and lead by example.
· Follow company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
· Maintain testing equipment and ensure calibration requirements are met.
· Support operational teams in achieving production and quality objectives.
Qualifications
Experience
· Experience performing asphalt and aggregate quality control testing. 3+ years
· Experience supporting asphalt paving, aggregate production, or crushing operations preferred.
· Familiarity with Ministry of Transportation, municipal, and heavy civil construction specifications considered an asset.
Technical Skills
Strong understanding of:
· Asphalt mix production and testing procedures
· Aggregate testing and quality control requirements
· Crusher and aggregate production operations
· Construction quality documentation and reporting
· Field sampling and testing practices
Communication & Organization
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
· Ability to work independently in field and plant environments.
· Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to work flexible hours during peak construction operations.
Certifications & Licences
· Current CCIL Certification (required).
· Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
· Additional aggregate, asphalt, or materials testing certifications considered an asset.
