The Meadowood Store is a vital hub for our rural community just north of Qualicum Beach on Vancouver Island. We are a combined grocery and liquor store dedicated to providing excellent service, convenience, and a welcoming atmosphere to our local neighbours and visitors alike.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a trustworthy, proactive, and business-minded leader to fill the vital role of Store Manager & Property Caretaker. This is a fully on-site residential position, perfect for a dedicated professional looking to run a thriving local business while enjoying a peaceful, rural Vancouver Island lifestyle.

With a guaranteed salary and all housing, rent, and utility costs completely covered, this role offers an incredible financial advantage, maximum savings, and zero daily commute.

HOUSING ACCOMMODATIONS PROVIDED

Unit Type: Private, cozy 1-bedroom suite located steps from the site.
Kitchen: Features a full kitchen with appliances.
Laundry: Access to shared laundry facilities on the property.
Financial Value: ($1,700/month retail value) with all utilities (heat, electricity) 100% included.

KEY MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Operations: Work in store managing day-to-day operations.
Team Leadership: Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise store clerks, fostering a positive and efficient work environment.
Inventory & Vendor Control: Oversee purchasing, manage product margins, handle vendor relations, and direct seasonal merchandising.
Compliance & Safety: Maintain strict compliance with BC liquor laws (LCRB regulations), food safety, and workplace safety standards.
Property Caretaking: Act as the primary on-site custodian, overseeing property security, general groundskeeping, and coordinating routine maintenance or repairs.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Leadership Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of management or supervisory experience in retail liquor or grocery.
Certifications: Valid Serving It Right certification (or immediate willingness to obtain).
Business Skills: Strong business acumen, financial accountability (cash management/ordering), and excellent problem-solving skills.
Physical Capability: Ability to lift heavy items (cases of beer/groceries) and handle physical outdoor caretaking duties across all seasons.
Clearance: Must pass a standard criminal record check (required for BC liquor retail management).
