Portfolio Risk Management 17: Salaries typically range from $84,698 to $112,931 annually, based on qualifications and experiences plus a performance-based incentive.

Portfolio Risk Management 18: Salaries typically range from $96,557 to $128,743 annually, based on qualifications and experiences plus a performance-based incentive.

Portfolio Risk Management 19: Salaries typically range from $112,006 to $149,341 annually, based on qualifications and experiences plus a performance-based incentive.
We are recruiting for multiple roles, with permanent and contract opportunities available. Please note the performance-based incentive is only applicable to permanent roles.

Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, with a current requirement of two in-office days per week, increasing to three days per week in September 2026 (subject to change).

This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa or from one of our Community Hubs located in Toronto or Montreal.

Team Overview:
The Risk Assessment & Portfolio Management (RAPM) team monitors the Insurance portfolio, performing independent credit risk assessment and portfolio management and ensuring that appropriate action is taken when the credit risk of a company is no longer considered acceptable. RAPM participates in the ongoing review of the Insurance group's credit granting and credit surveillance standards and its policies and procedures for risk acceptance.
We are looking for dynamic and motivated credit professionals to manage a portfolio of buyers, performing independent credit and financial risk assessment to assess the commercial risk acceptance and repayment capabilities of these companies, in support of our Insurance program.
What you will be doing:

Conducts due diligence and necessary analysis to establish the creditworthiness and risk level of the buyer and/or transactions based on the financial review of the buyer as well as the assessment of other factors such as country economic conditions, payment terms etc.

Assesses and evaluates requests for new credit.

Implements timely surveillance and monitoring of buyer portfolio to ensure files are up-to-date and minimizes credit granting turnaround times.

Analyses and comments on sector, market and portfolio developments.

Consistently adheres to acceptable credit standards to ensure appropriate documentation, credit analysis and recommended decisions.

Prepares credit assessments and presents recommendations to credit authorizers with appropriate authority.

Proactively shares sector and industry knowledge to help support Business Teams, internal partners, and customers.

Learns about general credit insurance underwriting practices.

Ensures discipline around data integrity.

Liaises with buyers, banks, information providers and other entities to assess credit issues.

Able to generate new continuous improvement ideas for EDC by working closely with colleagues, customers, and key intermediaries. Contributes to ad hoc projects related to process and other improvements.
Sr. Risk Analyst (Portfolio Risk Management 19) – Additional Responsibilities
-
Has significant depth and breadth of knowledge of credit issues within relevant sectors and is responsible to make timely risk mitigating recommendations.
Proactively leads all aspects of portfolio management, including the gathering, analysis, and effective communication of data including presentations to relevant committees and stakeholders. -
Maintains a network of internal and external stakeholders and leverages it to enhance management of portfolio and, if required, to succeed with projects.
What we are looking for:

Undergraduate Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or other related disciplines.

Experience in credit risk management and international trade or related fields as follows:

Portfolio Risk Management 17, 5+ years.
-
Portfolio Risk Management 18, 7+ years.
-
Portfolio Risk Management 19, 9+ years.
-
Knowledge of credit risk management principles and practices.
What will make you stand out:

Professional designation/candidacy (CFA, CPA, MBA).

Knowledge of bank credit assessment and lending practices.

Knowledge of international business practices and international trade.

Bilingual in both official languages (French and English).
