Halifax Regional Municipality is inviting applications for the casual position of Summer Recreation Tennis Instructor in Parks and Recreation.

The Summer Recreation Tennis Instructor leads Tennis programs for a variety of age groups. The instructor must plan, and teach Tennis classes to campers who may vary in their abilities and experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:-
Daily duties such as greeting participants,

Leading activities,
-
Ensuring the safety and enjoyment of participants,
-
Organizing equipment and supplies,
-
Preparing for activities,
-
Distributing and collecting permission slips for outings,
-
Participating in staff meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:-
Current technical and practical training at an advanced level in Tennis
-
At least one season/summer of experience working or volunteering with preschoolers/children/youth in a recreational setting
-
At least one season/summer of demonstrated program leadership skills
-
Knowledge and understanding of Healthy Child Development
-
Previous experience working with persons with disabilities an asset
Technical / Job Specific Knowledge and Abilities:-
Current certification in Emergency First Aid (CSA Basic) and Level C CPR an asset

Successful completion of all training requirements (Including High Five and WHMIS) prior to start date

Must attended all training
Security Clearance Requirements: Applicants may be required to complete an employment security screening check.
Please note – Testing may be conducted as a component of the selection process to assess technical and job specific knowledge. Candidates, who are selected for testing, may be tested in a group setting, scheduled at the employer’s discretion.

SALARY: Non Union; $21.75-$27.75 per hour(plus 4% vacation pay)
WORK LOCATION: Various Community Recreation Centre: LeBrun Recreation Centre.
