About the Opportunity
Are you creative, organised, and comfortable spending time on social media? We are looking for a casual Social Media & Communications Assistant to provide maternity leave coverage and help keep our organisation connected, current, and visible across a variety of digital channels.
This is a great opportunity for someone looking for flexible, casual work that can fit around school, another job, family commitments, or other responsibilities. The role is expected to require up to approximately 10-15 hours per week, with some days requiring considerably less.
You don't need to be a programmer or technical expert. Training will be provided on the systems and platforms used in the role.
What You'll Do
- Work with the OMM to create, prepare and publish engaging content for Facebook and Instagram
- Help maintain a consistent and professional social media presence.
- Assist preparation and distribution of newsletters and organisational updates with OMM.
- Gather information, photos, announcements and updates from colleagues.
- Monitor social media activity and respond or escalate questions as appropriate.
- Post timely updates, announcements, events and community information.
- Maintain content calendars and help coordinate upcoming communications.
- Update information pop-ups, announcements and notices within industry-specific software and online systems
- Assist with keeping digital information accurate, current and engaging.
- Help identify opportunities to improve how information is shared with customers, employees and the community.
- Perform other communications tasks as required.
What We're Looking For:
- Is comfortable using Canva, and posting on Facebook and Instagram.
- Has a good eye for interesting, engaging and appropriate content.
- Can write clearly and professionally.
- Is organised and able to work independently.
- Has good attention to detail.
- Is comfortable learning new software and online systems.
- Can manage deadlines and keep information current.
- Understands that social media content represents the organisation and should always be professional.
- Is dependable and able to work with minimal supervision.
We will provide training on our industry-specific platforms, communication processes and expectations. We are more interested in finding someone who is comfortable with social media, willing to learn and has good communication skills.
