We are currently seeking highly capable Civil Engineering Technologists to join our growing team.
About the Role
As a Civil Engineering Technologist at Aptus, you will be involved in all phases of project delivery — from preliminary and conceptual design through detailed design and construction. The Civil Engineering Technologist will support civil engineering design, drafting, surveying, and construction inspection on a variety of municipal, roadway, infrastructure, and land development projects. This role involves working closely with professional engineers from conceptual design through detailed design and construction using modern civil engineering software and survey equipment.
This position is based in Red Deer, with work primarily from the office and project sites. Limited remote work may be available.
Responsibilities
- Participate in all aspects of detailed design and drawing production using current civil engineering design software
- Civil engineering design and drafting using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Prepare detailed design drawings for municipal, roadway, and land development projects
- Assist with project schedules, timelines, and deliverables
- Communicate with engineers, project managers, contractors, clients, municipalities, and regulatory agencies
- Support field operations with design information, drawings, and construction specifications
- Conduct quality control and review of drawings and design work
- Work collaboratively with professional engineers and other technologists
- Apply independent judgment to assigned engineering and design tasks
- Opportunities to perform construction surveying using modern survey equipment
- Opportunities to participate in construction inspection
Qualifications and what we are looking for
- Graduate of an accredited Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology program (required)
- Certified or eligible for certification with ASET
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D (required)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office (required)
- Detail-oriented with strong pride in workmanship
- Willingness to learn
- Effective written, verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong time-management skills and ability to work with minimal supervision
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively
- Familiarity with Trimble or Hemisphere survey equipment and surveying practices (asset)
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence with access to a vehicle (preferred)
- Legally entitled to work in Canada and able to work in Alberta without sponsorship (required)
Training is available; however, candidates must have a solid working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D and basic surveying principles.
Experience is an asset, but new graduates are encouraged to apply.
Compensation, Benefits & Job Information
- Hourly wage: $30.00–$46.00, based on experience and training

Schedule
- Full-time (minimum 40 hours per two-week pay period)
- Monday to Friday, day shift
- 8-hour shifts
