About the Role
As a Security Guard and/or Photo Radar Operator, you will play a vital role in supporting public safety, security, and traffic enforcement operations. Depending on operational requirements, responsibilities may include security patrols, access control, incident response, monitoring facilities, operating photo radar enforcement equipment, documenting violations, preparing reports, and supporting enforcement activities within the Lethbridge Police Service's Specialized Traffic Enforcement Unit.
This position requires professionalism, integrity, excellent observation skills, and the ability to work independently while representing Commissionaires with pride.

Key Responsibilities Security Operations
- Conduct foot and vehicle patrols to deter theft, vandalism, and safety hazards
- Monitor buildings, facilities, and grounds for suspicious activity
- Control access to sites and direct or escort visitors as required
- Respond to alarms, emergencies, disturbances, and incidents
- Enforce site policies and procedures professionally
- Operate security equipment, surveillance systems, and digital reporting tools
- Maintain accurate incident reports, logs, and documentation
- Provide exceptional customer service to clients, staff, and visitors
Photo Radar Operations
- Set up and operate photo radar enforcement equipment at designated locations
- Monitor and record traffic violations in accordance with established procedures
- Ensure accurate data collection and high-quality image capture
- Complete detailed documentation and enforcement records
- Maintain and inspect enforcement equipment
- Adhere to Directed Deployment Program guidelines and training standards
- Provide evidence and testify in court when required
- Ensure compliance with operational and legal requirements
Required Qualifications
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Minimum 5 years of Canadian residency for Enhanced Security Clearance eligibility
- Valid Alberta Security Guard License
- Valid First Aid & CPR Certification
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License (Non-GDL)
- Clean driver's abstract
- Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
- Strong report writing and documentation abilities
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
- Flexibility to work days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varied shifts
Preferred Qualifications
The following will be considered assets:
- Previous RCMP, police, military, or peace officer experience
- Military family background
- Law enforcement, criminal justice, or security-related education
- Experience in security operations, traffic enforcement, or public safety roles
- Experience testifying in court or handling enforcement documentation
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods while operating specialized equipment
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods
- Ability to climb stairs and patrol large facilities
- Ability to work independently in various environments
- Manual dexterity to operate technical equipment and computers
- Ability to respond effectively during emergencies
- Ability to remain alert and attentive throughout lengthy shifts
Working Conditions
- Casual On-Call position
- Day, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts
- Indoor and outdoor work environments
- Exposure to varying weather conditions, including inclement weather
- Fast-paced security and enforcement-focused environments
- Additional duties may be assigned based on operational requirements
