As a caregiver you will wear many hats - from cooking nutritious meals to ensuring a clean and safe environment. Your dedication and attention to detail will shine through in every task you undertake.
Our ideal candidate will have experience working with children who have been in care, that have special or high behavioral needs.
Candidates must have a valid Class 5 Novice 2 or higher Drivers License, CPR & First Aid level C certification, a clean Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector check, as well as Food Safe and WHMIS training.
PART, MANDT and Medication Administration are welcome bonuses.
In return for your skills and dedication, we offer flexible shifts, including days, evenings, nights and weekends.
Shifts are 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm and 11pm-7am.
Our homes operate 24/7, so candidates must be willing to work weekends and holidays.

Duties:
- Personal Care: Assisting residents with personal hygiene tasks, such as bathing, grooming, diaper changes and dressing. Encouraging routine and supporting independence.
- Medication Management: Administering and documenting medication as prescribed.
- Meal Preparation: Planning, preparing, and documenting nutritious meals based on residents' dietary needs and preferences.
- Housekeeping: Keeping the home clean and organized, including doing laundry and maintaining a safe environment.
- Emotional Support: Providing emotional support and companionship; being attentive to the children's mental health and well-being.
- Transportation: Assisting residents with transportation to appointments, school, activities, and outings. Class 5 Saskatchewan Drivers License is REQUIRED.
- Documentation: Maintaining accurate records of residents' care, including daily activities, behaviors, and any incidents.
- Collaboration: Working closely with other staff members, healthcare professionals, and family members to ensure the best care for residents.
- Crisis Intervention: Responding calmly and effectively to emergencies or challenging behaviors, following established protocols.
- Advocacy: Advocating for the children's rights and ensuring they have access to necessary services and support.
Skills:
- Previous Experience: Experience as a youth support worker. Substantial knowledge of child care techniques and strategies.
- Basic Medical Knowledge: Understanding common medical conditions and how to provide basic care.
- Knowledge of Disability and Mental Health Issues: Understanding the needs and challenges faced by individuals with disabilities or mental health issues.
- Empathy and Compassion: Being able to understand and empathize with the challenges faced by residents, and providing compassionate care.
- Communication Skills: Effectively communicating with children, colleagues, healthcare professionals, and family members.
- Interpersonal Skills: Building positive relationships with children and working well in a team environment.
- Confidence: The ability to confidently perform your duties and enforce protocols independently when needed.
- Patience: Dealing with challenging behaviors or situations calmly and patiently.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Being able to quickly assess situations and find practical solutions.
- Flexibility: Adapting to changing schedules or children's needs.
- Organizational Skills: Managing tasks efficiently and keeping accurate records.
- Cultural Sensitivity: Respecting and understanding the cultural backgrounds and beliefs of residents.
- Physical Stamina: Being able to assist with physical tasks such as lifting or helping residents with mobility.
- Crisis Management: Knowing how to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
* Fluent English is required.
* Valid Canadian Class 5 novice 2 or Higher Driver's License is REQUIRED and proof will be required.
