Overview
Sunny Park Preschool is a part-time preschool in the Douglas Park neighbourhood of Regina, Saskatchewan. We provide a warm, nurturing environment where children learn through play, exploration, and hands on experiences. Our program focuses on fostering curiosity, independence, confidence, and kindergarten readiness in a welcoming classroom where every child is valued.
We're seeking a caring, dependable and enthusiastic casual on-call preschool substitute to cover when the teacher is away due to illness, appointments, professional development, or other planned absences. This position is also ideal for someone looking for flexible, occasional work, and may occasionally include helping with special preschool events or activities.
Responsibilities
- Supervising and engaging preschool-aged children in a safe and nurturing environment.
- Following the daily classroom routine, maintaining a clean and welcoming classroom.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of children by maintaining supervision at all times and following health and safety protocols.
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and team members to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment.
- Help with classroom organization, including setting up materials, cleaning up after activities, and maintaining a tidy learning space.
- Adapt to various classroom needs by providing flexible support during different activities or special events.
- Supporting learning through play and exploration.
- Confidently lead a small preschool classroom of children ages 2.5 to 5 years. And maintain a safe, positive, and engaging environment when the classroom teacher is absent.
Experience:
- Prior experience working with children in educational, childcare, or special education settings is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills are essential for interacting effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Previous classroom experience in early childhood education or similar environments provides valuable insight into child development principles.
- Excellent organizational skills, time management, leadership qualities, writing skills, and the ability to multitask are crucial for success as a casual/on-call staff member.
- Qualifications:
- Valid first aid and CPR certification, and a criminal record check with vulnerable sector search.
- Early childhood education certification or currently enrolled in an early childhood education or Bachelor of Education program.
- Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada
*This is a casual, on-call position. Hours are not guaranteed and are offered as needed*
Typical shifts are weekday mornings, approximately: 8:30AM to 11:30AM.
Paid orientation and training will be provided.
