Children’s Treatment Network (CTN) supports over 39,000 kids and youth with disabilities and other developmental needs. We provide intake, service navigation and coordinated service planning, assessment and diagnostic services, specialized clinics and rehabilitation services, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech language therapy.

What You Will Do:
CTN is looking for a full-time Accounting Generalist who is a member of CTN’s finance team and is responsible for performing a variety of functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger transactions and maintenance, bank deposits, bank reconciliations and donation tax receipts. The role provides assistance to the biweekly payroll processing and annual audit. The Accounting Generalist reports to the Controller, and plays a key role in finance department activities to achieve timely and accurate reporting.
Responsibilities:
The successful incumbent will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
Accounts Payable:
- Perform all aspects of the accounts payable (AP) process including matching approved purchase orders, attaching invoices to delivery slips and respective correspondences, circulating invoices for approval, recording accounts payable transactions in the general ledger using MS Dynamics Great Plains (GP)
- Process Electronic Fund Transfers (EFTs) and cheque payments to vendors on a weekly basis using the signing authority policy
- Maintain the finance records management system including filing, organizing financial records and record destruction process on annual basis
- Process Expense Reimbursements forms for external parties
- Process monthly credits card expenses using the statement and tracking sheet for all card holders
- Prepare and disburse payment notification to vendors, Service Provider Organizations (SPOs) and landlords
- Resolve payment discrepancies and disputes on behalf of CTN and ensure that all payments are made timely
- Support the asset tracking registry by providing invoices related to purchases to Corporate Service Department
- Ensures compliance with provincial and federal tax including confirmation of CRA registration, accuracy of HST charged
Accounts Receivable:
- Perform all aspects of the accounts receivable (AR) process including preparation and issuance of invoices to external parties and recording invoice payment in the general ledger using GP
- Prepare and deposit funds including donations into CTN’s bank accounts
- Record and reconcile ministry cashflow payments on monthly basis
Donations:
- Prepare Donation Tax Receipts and record donation transactions in the general ledger using GP
- Process payments to clients and families from the family fund
Payroll:
- Assist with biweekly payroll activities as required
- Process payroll remittances including statutory deductions, WSIB, HOOPP, Employer Health Tax (EHT) using RBC Express Tax Filing platform and other online payment platforms
Month-end
- Prepare and enter journal entries into the general ledger using GP
- Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations
- Support monthly bank reconciliations
- Support in the review of financial statements through GL account analysis
- Prepare and submit the HST and Rent Rebate applications
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements
- Assist with Ministry reporting requirements both financial and statistical
Audit
- Assists in the completion of interim and year end audit activities including preparation of external audit working paper files
- Provide supporting documents including paid invoices, bank deposits, lease agreements and SPO service agreements
Other
- Contribute/participate in team-based duties as assigned, including contribution to operational and team effectiveness of the Finance team
- Ensures compliance with provincial and federal tax regulations
- Provide assistance to the Controller and other Finance team members in the preparation of reports, funding applications, annual reports, presentations etc., as required
- Other duties and projects as required
What We Need:
- A 4 year-university degree (business, accounting, and / or finance) plus a professional Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with at least 3 years of accounting experience in a non-profit setting, ideally in the children’s rehab services or social services sectors
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Office products including Excel, V-lookup and pivot tables
- Knowledge of financial / accounting processes with the ability to apply analytical thinking to solving problems, issues, and challenges; always working to move towards the achievement of goals
- Knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains (GP) and Management Reporter will be an asset
- Knowledge and experience in processing payroll
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong organizational skills to prioritize and make decisions about timelines and deliverables of financial transactions and reporting across the organization
- Ability to travel to assigned office, between CTN sites and/or other locations as required
- Ability to work flexible hours in support of requirements that may fall outside of the typical work hour framework
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and accurately
- Demonstrates business professionalism with respect to confidentiality, recognizes sensitivity and exercises good judgement, discretion and accountability in all aspects of the role when dealing with clients, families, team members, and network providers
- Works effectively and collaboratively as part of a team and across teams recognizing diverse objectives and perspectives across the organization
- Demonstrates effective communication skills for exchange of, sharing, and explaining information across the finance team and other areas of the organization
- Demonstrated commitment to a safe environment for staff, clients and families by working in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and related policies
- Knowledge of the children’s service systems in Simcoe County and York Region considered an asset
- Lived experience as a person with a disability or a caregiver of a child with a disability and/or developmental needs is considered an asset
- Ability to communicate in French or other languages considered an asset
- Experience with and understanding of various cultures and cultural communities including Francophone, First Nations, Métis and Inuit (FNMI) communities considered an asset
- Certified First Aid considered an asset
Selected Successful Candidate Will Be Required To:
Produce a clear police record check with a vulnerable sector check prior to start of employment
Be able to travel to assigned office, between CTN sites and/or other locations as required
Maintain the ability to work effectively in a temporary hybrid environment and have access to appropriate internet capacity
