Overview
The Marketing Communications Coordinator plays a key role in elevating Oppy and its grower-partners’ brands across multiple platforms, ensuring that messages resonate with both internal and external audiences. We’re seeking a dynamic and creative individual who is passionate about storytelling, skilled in content creation and excels in a collaborative environment. In this role, you will support the marketing department by crafting compelling narratives, managing marketing projects and collaborating closely with various teams to drive the execution of successful marketing programs. You will also contribute to Oppy’s sustainability initiatives and compliance efforts through accurate reporting and coordination of information. Your ability to juggle multiple tasks, maintain an organized workflow and deliver impactful communication will be critical to our marketing success.
The expected annual salary range of this position is $60,000 - $65,000. Please note, our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position based in our U.S. and Canada office locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by various factors including location, job-related skills, relevant experience, education, formal training and internal equity.
Accountabilities
- Develop and write engaging marketing collateral including sell sheets, point-of-sale materials, recipes and more, to effectively communicate value proposition
- Support the marketing department by keeping marketing materials, special projects, packaging, print media, premiums and events (including trade shows) on track and within budget, ensuring timely delivery of all initiatives
- Work closely with the category and business development teams to gather details for marketing materials and collaborate with the graphic design team to collect and organize necessary assets
- Maintain and manage the image library and online assets, assisting graphic designers as needed to ensure consistency and accessibility of resources
- Assure stakeholders are provided with or have access to current materials in a dynamic environment
- Assist with media relations and internal communications activities, including drafting and distributing press releases, coordinating trade media advertising, arranging and facilitating interviews, drafting newsletter and intranet articles and supporting crisis communications
- Lead the planning and execution of our social media strategy including content development and community management while providing social media resources and support to our partners
- Assist the Sustainability Lead in development and execution of sustainability-related marketing initiatives, including content for campaigns, communications, and presentations
- Collect sustainability data, stories, and assets from internal teams and grower partners to support brand storytelling and reporting
- Prepare materials for retailer sustainability programs, surveys, and reporting requirements
- Maintain and organize sustainability documentation and records, ensuring accuracy and accessibility to support customer and marketing needs
- Track and synthesize sustainability, marketing, and competitor trends to inform internal alignment and keep marketing strategies relevant and competitive
- Provide outstanding service to internal and external stakeholders, with a focus on elevating products, brand and associated brand reputations
Required Knowledge & Abilities
- A strong writer with a knack for creating compelling content for marketing materials, press releases and beyond; excellent proofreading and editing skills are essential
- A self-starter who takes initiative in organizing and updating materials, staying ahead of deadlines and overcoming obstacles with a solution-oriented mindset
- Proven track record in creativity, with the ability to execute marketing strategies effectively across various channels including packaging, print, presentations, social and digital media
- Exceptionally organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple campaigns and brands simultaneously
- Familiarity with the basics of supply chain sustainability and social compliance programs
- Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills, with the ability to set priorities and meet targets in a fast-paced environment
- A reliable team player known for building strong relationships, readily assisting with tasks of all sizes to ensure the success of the team
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; experience with design software such as Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator or Canva is an asset but not necessary
Required Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in business with a focus on marketing, communications or business; specific training in agribusiness or related industry courses is an asset
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in marketing communications or a related field, with a proven ability to create and manage impactful marketing content
