Overview

606 Essex Chambers is a growing Vancouver litigation boutique seeking a junior litigation associate with approximately 0 to 2 years of post-call experience. We are looking for a lawyer who is motivated by challenging work, eager to develop strong litigation skills, and interested in building a long-term practice within a collaborative and entrepreneurial environment.

This is an opportunity for a junior lawyer to gain meaningful hands-on experience early in their career while working closely with experienced litigators on sophisticated and complex matters.

What We Offer

Competitive compensation of approximately $140,000 to $170,000+, with significant long-term earning potential.
Sophisticated and engaging litigation work, including commercial litigation, fraud and asset recovery, shareholder and partnership disputes, breach of contract and fiduciary duty claims, and significant CRA audits and tax disputes.
Early and meaningful responsibility, with opportunities to participate in client matters, court appearances, examinations for discovery, legal research and writing, and other aspects of litigation as experience and ability develop.
Direct mentorship and professional development. Junior associates work closely with experienced counsel and receive practical guidance on litigation strategy, advocacy, legal writing, client management, and the development of sound professional judgment.
Flexible work arrangements. Our lawyers frequently work remotely or while travelling. Attendance at the office is encouraged, but generally required only when collaboration, client meetings, training, or other in-person responsibilities make it beneficial.
Long-term career and business development mentorship. We provide associates with a steady flow of quality work and, as their practice develops, practical mentorship on building referral networks, developing client relationships, and establishing a successful long-term practice.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

0 to 2 years of post-call experience in British Columbia. Applications from current articled students approaching call may also be considered.
Membership in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia, or eligibility for membership upon completion of articles.
Above-average academic performance in law school.
Strong analytical, legal research, and legal writing skills.
A demonstrated interest in litigation and a willingness to develop advocacy and client-management skills.
Strong initiative, responsiveness, attention to detail, and professional judgment.
