We are an established art education institution based in Richmond, BC, founded and operated by a team of experienced educators.
Our teaching team has extensive experience in North American art education, portfolio development, and art & design school admissions. We believe strong admission results come from high-quality teaching, thoughtful mentorship, and consistent guidance.
We are currently looking for a Part-Time Portfolio Art Instructor who is passionate about art education and interested in developing a stable, long-term teaching relationship with our students and team.
Responsibilities
- Guide students in developing competitive portfolios for applications to North American art and design schools
- Develop individualized project and learning plans based on each student's artistic strengths, interests, and target programs
- Mentor students throughout the creative process, including research, concept development, experimentation, technical execution, refinement, and final presentation
- Monitor project progress and provide clear, constructive, and professional feedback
- Help students strengthen technical skills, creative thinking, visual communication, and independent artistic expression
- Support students in developing portfolios that demonstrate both strong technical foundations and conceptual depth
- Communicate professionally with students, parents, and the teaching team regarding student progress when needed
- Collaborate with other instructors to continuously improve curriculum, projects, and teaching quality
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Art, Design, Architecture, Animation, Illustration, Fine Arts, or a related field, preferably from a North American institution
- Strong personal portfolio demonstrating solid technical skills, creativity, and artistic development
- Familiarity with portfolio expectations and admissions processes for North American art and design schools
- Previous experience in portfolio preparation, art education, or student mentorship is preferred
- Strong ability to guide students through both technical development and concept-driven projects
- Responsible, patient, organized, and committed to high-quality teaching
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a teaching team
- Interested in a stable, long-term part-time teaching position
- Outstanding recent graduates with strong portfolios are also encouraged to apply
- Fluent Mandarin Chinese is required for communication with students, parents, and the teaching team.
- Sufficient English proficiency to understand North American art school admission requirements, portfolio guidelines, and professional materials.
