Tony Curtis & Associates Inc. is actively interviewing for the position of Buyer for one of Canada’s leading, trendsetting brands. With hundreds of locations across Canada this brand continues to expand and lead in all the major categories; clothing, footwear and accessories. The successful candidate will utilize their passion for fashion, style and trends, and have an excellent understanding of target customers to create an aligned and focused fashion assortment. This role is responsible for selecting and purchasing apparel and accessories from manufacturers, designers and wholesalers to match seasonal investment requirements and fashion trends. A Buyer must positively impact the bottom-line profit of their responsibilities/categories by achieving budgeted sales, GM/ROI, unit turns and inventory levels. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Negotiate with vendors to develop merchandise with the best possible price/value relationship in the marketplace
· Develop and correspond with vendors regarding product development, order placement, delivery follow up, initiation of new orders, PO revisions and cancellations, shipping, packing, and pre-ticketing
· Lead the creation of specification and detail packages for private label programs to be developed
· Implement product assortment focusing on cost, price points, key items, vendor, promotions, for areas of responsibility in concert with supervisor
· Supervise approval of product prior to production
· Access all buying functions in AS400 and The Eye
· Create and analyze buying reports
· Open Order Report – complete all received orders, ensure accuracy of information on report and list vessel information for import orders. Finalize and submit the Open Order Report to Senior Management on a weekly basis (end of day Friday)
· Analyze performance and plans to look for sales and margin opportunities that can exceed plans
· Analyze business reports, OTB, Buying Plans, Assortment Plans, Open Order, Velocity and Class Sales Ranking Reports
· Coordinate photo shoot samples
· Coordinate needs with Planner, Allocation Analysts, Assistant Buyers and General Merchandise Manager
· Visit stores to audit product assortment, allocation, visual set up and presentation
· Communicate and liaise with all departments specific to purchase, delivery, receipt, ticketing, processing, pricing, and quality of merchandise
· Partner with Visual team to develop effective presentation plans and promotions
· Participate in sales, product, and merchandise meetings
· Stay abreast of fashion trends, market climate, competition, promotional and test strategies
· Communicate new ideas, proposals, concepts etc.
· Train and evaluate direct reports to enhance performance and development. Address performance issues when needed
· Adhere to corporate health and safety policy requirements that contribute to a safe workplace

Qualifications
· Post-secondary education in Fashion and/or related experience required
· Minimum of 2 years of working Fashion Merchandising experience
· Previous work experience with suppliers and buyers an asset
· Knowledge of the retail industry an asset
· Illustrator and AS400 skills are an asset
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Pay: $55,000.00-$62,000.00 per year
