As our business is growing rapidly, we need an additional Outside Sales Representatives to service our North York and surrounding Region. The candidate will ideally live in this area.
Note: Our head office is located in Mississauga and will be required to commute to our office from time to time.
Summary
The Sales Representative will be responsible for developing relationships with current and new customers, preparing service agreements and/or contracts and closing deals within the ideal target group of Industrial Markets which are Warehousing, 3PL facilities, Manufacturing, Food Processing, Packaging Facilities, Yard and Outdoor Industrial. We will rely on you to partner with our customer service, sales and marketing departments to develop a strategic business development plan. You will be a Material Handling Expert and be able to offer Full-Service Warehouse Solutions to customers using a state-of-the-art Sales Management Program available to help manage, track, and maintain all business opportunities. To excel in this role, you should be an active listener, have a compelling sales personality, and a hunger to chase and close new business from cold calls and inbound warm leads.
Job Duties (including but not limited to):
- Generate new business through cold calls, lead generation, and in-person meetings. Convert prospects into sales for equipment, service, rentals, and more, expanding the customer base and driving growth.
- Stay informed on market trends, customer needs, and economic conditions to identify and capitalize on new business opportunities within the territory.
- Work with technicians and coordinators on service calls and customer site meetings. Collaborate to address customer service requests, equipment service, and repair needs effectively.
- Work with the inside team to drive sales and service opportunities for equipment, parts, rentals, operator training, and maintenance agreements. Ensure alignment between customer needs and offered solutions.
- Conduct site assessments, prepare cost analysis, and create proposals for both new and existing equipment fleet accounts. Present tailored solutions to align with business objectives and customer needs.
- Proactively cross-sell and up-sell additional products and services to existing clients to maximize revenue and strengthen customer relationships
- Maintain consistent and proactive communication with customers. Log calls, follow up regularly, and ensure all concerns are addressed promptly to build long-lasting relationships.
- Attend industry events, conferences, and meetings to stay updated on trends, build relationships, and expand the network for business growth.
- Become a Subject Matter Expert in material handling and forklift equipment. Ensure compliance with OHSA regulations, company policies, and industry standards to maintain the highest level of service quality.
- Meet and exceed sales and service targets within your territory. Track and manage performance metrics to ensure goals are met and exceeded.
- Manage and retain existing customer accounts, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction, timely service, and a high approval rate for service quotes (80% or higher).
- Provide comprehensive equipment orientation training for new equipment deliveries, ensuring customers are familiar with equipment features and usage.
- Collaborate with strategic partners to ensure excellent sales and service outcomes, sharing equipment analysis, expenditure reporting, and long-term solutions.
- Address customer service cases that require escalation, ensuring swift resolutions and customer retention.
- Track and manage sales opportunities, account performance, and required data for equipment and service. Maintain an organized dashboard to monitor progress and meet minimum targets.
- Maintain regular customer ratings and manage feedback within the territory to optimize accounts and enhance overall satisfaction.
- Completing all required training (ie, HR, health and safety, job specific, practical etc).
- Reviewing the Health and Safety Policy Statement
- Work in compliance with the provisions of the OHSA, regulations, internal programs, policies and procedures on company and customer sites.
- Notifying managers of any health and safety concerns, so that they may be dealt with promptly.
- Protecting his or her own and co-workers health and safety by working in compliance with the law and with safe work practices and procedures established
- Using appropriate personal protective equipment as required.
- Reporting unsafe or potentially hazardous conditions to their Manager. Promoting a hazard-free workplace.
- Performing their duties in a manner conducive to a safe workplace, following all safety practices and procedures.
- Reporting of any incident, injury or hazard as outlined in procedures.
- Reporting any acts of violence or harassment in the workplace.
- Learning the Emergency Response Plan detailing their facilities procedures pertaining to: Fire, Weather, or Medical Emergency
- Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in related field
- 3+ years of sales experience
- Demonstrated achievement in B2B sales
- Experience in material handling equipment sales an asset
- Experience with Salesforce an asset
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with internal teams.
- Knowledge of forklift equipment and material handling solutions.
- Proven track record in sales, customer service, and territory management.
- Ability to analyze customer needs and deliver tailored solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including facilitation of group presentations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access and industry-specific analysis software
- Innovation and problem-solving skills that include the ability to develop and propose equipment-based solutions for clients
- High attention to detail
- Proactive qualities with the willingness to learn.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must comply with OHSA and company safety policies.
The posted salary range is inclusive of base, car allowance and bonus.
