Overview
West Country Family Service Association (WCFSA) is a trusted, accredited charitable organization that has proudly served seniors, families, and communities across west-central Alberta for more than 45 years. Guided by our mission to deliver respectful, quality care and connect seniors and families with the supports they need to live with dignity, independence, wellness, and belonging, WCFSA provides a broad range of community-based programs and services that empower individuals to safely age in the home of their choosing.
Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of WCFSA and provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, financial stewardship, and community representation. This permanent, full-time position is responsible for advancing the organization's mission while fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, innovation, and collaboration. Based in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, this is an in-person leadership opportunity requiring active engagement with the communities WCFSA serves.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and operational direction in alignment with Board-approved goals.
- Support effective governance and serve as the primary advisor to the Board of Directors.
- Oversee organizational finances, including budgeting, contracts, funding agreements, and long-term sustainability.
- Lead and support a diverse team of managers, staff, and volunteers while fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
- Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, accreditation standards, organizational policies, and reporting requirements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with funders, government partners, healthcare organizations, municipalities, donors, and community stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary spokesperson and ambassador for WCFSA, advocating for the needs of seniors, families, and rural communities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, Human Services, Social Work, Nursing, Public Administration, or a related field. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Minimum five years of progressive senior leadership experience, preferably in the nonprofit, healthcare, community services, or human services sectors.
- Experience working with Boards of Directors, grant-funded organizations, government contracts, and community partnerships.
- Demonstrated success in strategic planning, financial stewardship, risk management, organizational leadership, and resource development.
- Proven ability to lead and engage diverse teams while fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to person-centred care and improving the lives of seniors, families, and rural communities.
