Full job description

Overview
Cochrane Lake Gas Co-op Ltd. (CLGC) is a member owned gas distribution system. The Co-op installs and maintains natural gas to rural areas in both residential and commercial/farming applications. This job position includes assisting in all areas of construction and maintenance applications. These areas include such responsibilities as; emergency response, gas fitting, underground gas installation, monitoring gas supply system, line locating, meter readings, customer relations, and maintaining working knowledge of the Co-op gas distribution system.

Responsibilities

Safety:

Understand and follow all Safety Policies (Co-op, OH&S, O&M, OH&S)
Follow and be compliant to all legislation related to your employment including any laws, by-laws including transportation, traffic, labour, etc.
Attend any safety courses required by the Gas Co-op

Construction:

Installation/repair of underground gas distribution system. Activities include;
Loading/Unloading Heavy Equipment
Equipment Maintenance
Assist Management with; training, routing, estimating, system upgrading
Polyethylene Fusions
Operation of Excavation Equipment
Line testing and purging
Sub-Contractor management and monitoring (road/creek directional drilling, hydrovac,plowing)
Process involvement and improvement

Maintenance:

Maintenance/operations of gas distribution system. Activities include;
Assist with; training, scheduling, time management, process involvement and improvement, system upgrading
Customer meter readings
Gas fitting, (meter installs, regulator sets)
P.F.M. maintenance
Regulator station maintenance
Line Locating
RMO (regulating, metering, odourization) station monitoring/line heater troubleshooting, relief valve maintenance, station bypass scenarios
High Pressure Aluminum Line Troubleshooting/Emergency protocol
Road crossing sign maintenance
End line pressure checks
Leak survey inspections(gas line walking)
Cathodic Protection
Odorant monitoring and sampling/Delivery
Block Valve Maintenance
On-Call and Call Out Rotation

On-call Emergency Response

Respond to emergency related issues such as:
Odour calls
Hit gas lines (Aluminum & Polyethylene)
Emergency Locates
Gas outages
RMO (pressure, temperature alarms)

Qualifications:

Journeyman Gas Fitter or Gas Utility Operator
Safety Training (First Aid/CPR, Emergency Response, H2S Alive, WHIMIS/TDG, defensive driving, etc.)
Completion of rural gas distribution related courses and asset (RMO/Line Heater training, Fusion, Line Locator, Olfactory Testing, Ground Disturbance, P.F.M., Cargo securement, etc.)
Valid Class 5 drivers license/drivers abstract
Self motivated/Leadership
Team player
Customer Relations
Perform physical labour
Ability to operate various types of equipment, including constructon equipment, trucks and trailers, etc.
This position offers an opportunity to contribute to essential infrastructure services while developing technical skills in a dynamic environment.

Pay: Up to $103,500.00 per year
