Full job description

Title: Rossland Curling General Manager

Position Overview:

The Rossland Curling General Manager is a customer-focused employee responsible for overseeing the day-to-day business operations of the club. This individual plays a crucial role in creating a welcoming environment for members and the public, ensuring a positive experience for all visitors and club members.

The successful candidate will perform the following duties:

Club Management:

Receive and respond to member inquiries about the society and activities
Organize club bookings and events, including special event permits
Work closely with the club’s volunteer coordinator
Be familiar with registration system (Curling IO) and manage the Point Of Sale (POS) system
Have a working knowledge of the club’s by-laws and policies
Attend board meetings (including preparing and presenting manager’s report)
Control spending within annual budget
Develop and implement policies and procedures, in collaboration with the board
Provide recommendations for the annual operating budget

Operations:

Manage (and hire as needed) bar and cleaning staff
Obtain and maintain “Serving it Right” certification for all bar staff
Purchase and inventory control of all bar stock
Purchase supplies required for the day-to-day operation of the club and comfort of the members (kitchen, bar, lounge, locker rooms, washrooms)
Ensure all club assets and equipment operate safely and efficiently (excluding ice making)
As needed, act as bartender, including for low volume sales periods and/or in emergency or special situations
Participate and help run special events if required

Facility Management:

Ensure that lounge, locker rooms, and bathrooms are clean and ready for day-to-day operations
Manage or perform ongoing minor maintenance chores including recycling and laundry
Other duties as assigned - per board or board representative direction.

Qualifications:

Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills
Preferred experience in the food & beverage industry
“Serving it Right” certification
Highly motivated and a self-starter
Be a natural problem solver, able to identify appropriate resources to find a solution
Appreciation for marketing and public relations
Curling knowledge/exposure would be an asset
Valid Driver’s License and vehicle

Wages and Hours

$30.50/hour, average of 20 hours per week, mid September to early April
As set by the board

Performance review

Monthly during probation period, annual after that - by a board committee

Pay: $30.50 per hour
