About the Role:

As a Homeroom Teacher at Al-Furqan Elementary School in Ottawa, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the academic and social development of young learners. Your primary objective will be to create a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment that fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and a love for learning. You will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive curriculum aligned with provincial education standards while adapting teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students. Collaboration with colleagues, parents, and the school community will be essential to support student growth and well-being. Ultimately, your work will contribute to building a strong foundation for students' lifelong educational journeys and personal success.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree from an accredited institution.
Certification or eligibility for certification with the Ontario College of Teachers.
Demonstrated experience working with elementary-aged children in an educational setting.
Strong understanding of the Ontario elementary curriculum and teaching standards.
Clear criminal background check and compliance with child protection policies.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience teaching in a multicultural or faith-based school environment.
Additional qualifications in special education or English as a Second Language (ESL).
Proficiency in integrating technology into classroom instruction.
Strong skills in classroom management and differentiated instruction.
Commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective teaching practices.

Responsibilities:

Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons across multiple subjects in accordance with the Ontario curriculum.
Assess and monitor student progress through various evaluation methods, providing constructive feedback to support improvement.
Manage classroom behavior effectively to maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student performance, behavior, and development.
Participate in school meetings, professional development sessions, and collaborative planning with fellow educators.
