Full job description

Job Overview
The Carpenter’s Helper assists carpenters and project teams in rebuilding and repairing residential and commercial properties damaged by fire, water, mold, or storm events. This role supports skilled carpenters by performing basic construction tasks, site preparation, material handling, and cleanup, while learning restoration-specific techniques and safety practices. The Carpenter’s Helper ensures jobsites run smoothly, efficiently, and safely as part of the restoration rebuild team.

Support for Carpentry & Rebuild Work

Assist carpenters with framing, drywall work, flooring installation, trim work, and general carpentry tasks.
Measure, cut, and prepare materials under the direction of a lead carpenter.
Help install doors, windows, hardware, cabinets, and other building components.
Perform demolition, debris removal, and basic repair work.

Disaster Restoration–Specific Duties

Support rebuilds following water, fire, mold, or storm mitigation services.
Assist in removing damaged materials safely and preparing areas for reconstruction.
Load and unload materials, equipment, and tools for restoration projects.
Maintain a clean, safe jobsite in environments affected by disaster damage.

Tools, Equipment & Safety

Operate hand tools and basic power tools safely (training provided).
Set up ladders, scaffolding, and work areas as instructed.
Follow all company safety procedures, PPE protocols, and restoration safety guidelines.
Perform daily cleanup to maintain a safe and organized workspace.

Communication & Teamwork

Take direction from lead carpenters, project managers, and supervisors.
Report progress, issues, or safety concerns promptly.
Interact with clients professionally when on active job sites.

Qualifications

Prior experience or training in construction trades such as carpentry, masonry, roofing, or related fields is preferred.
Ability to perform heavy lifting and work in physically demanding environments.
Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
Willingness to learn new skills across multiple trades areas. This position provides an engaging environment for individuals eager to develop their skills within the construction industry while contributing to meaningful projects across various sectors.

Pay: $17.00-$19.00 per hour
