Steele's Trucking & Contracting Ltd. is a proud family-owned and operated company serving New Brunswick with a reputation built on hard work, integrity, and quality workmanship. We specialize in civil construction, excavation, trucking, site development, and infrastructure projects. As our company continues to grow, we are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Civil Estimator / Project Manager to join our team.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the successful planning, estimating, and execution of civil construction projects while working in a supportive, family-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities: Estimating & Tendering

Review drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
Prepare accurate quantity take-offs and cost estimates for civil construction projects.
Solicit and evaluate pricing from subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
Prepare and submit competitive bids, proposals, RFQs, and tender packages.
Analyze project risks and opportunities during the bidding process.
Maintain and update estimating databases and historical cost information.

Project Management

Coordinate project startup activities and attend pre-construction meetings.
Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources.
Work closely with field supervisors, operators, subcontractors, and clients to ensure successful project execution.
Monitor project costs and prepare progress reports.
Manage change orders, contract documentation, and project records.
Ensure compliance with project specifications, safety requirements, and contractual obligations.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.

General Responsibilities

Assist with contract administration and project closeout documentation.
Support continuous improvement of estimating and project management processes.
Participate in business development opportunities and client relationship management.
Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related field.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in civil construction estimating, project management, or a similar role.
Experience with excavation, site development, road construction, underground utilities, or heavy civil projects is considered a strong asset.
Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Experience with estimating software is an asset.
Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
Valid driver's license.
