About the Opportunity
A growing residential construction company in the Greater Saint John area is seeking a General Labourer to join its team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in doing a job well, and wants to build a long-term career in construction.
No previous construction experience is required. The right attitude, reliability, willingness to learn, and ability to work as part of a team are what matter most.
The successful candidate will support experienced tradespeople, gain exposure to different areas of residential construction, and have the opportunity to develop the skills needed to progress into a skilled trade.

About the Role
The General Labourer will provide support to tradespeople and construction crews in both a factory and job-site environment.
Responsibilities will include material handling, site preparation, clean-up, basic construction tasks, and assisting skilled tradespeople as directed.
As skills and experience develop, the successful candidate will have opportunities to take on additional responsibilities and explore a pathway toward a trade apprenticeship.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist carpenters, plumbers, finish carpenters, and other tradespeople with materials, tools, staging, and general tasks.
- Load, unload, move, and organize construction materials in the factory and on job sites.
- Prepare work areas and maintain clean, safe, and organized job sites.
- Complete general labour tasks as directed by the Lead Hand or other supervisors.
- Assist with basic demolition, preparation, and construction activities.
- Assist with grading, backfilling, topsoil, sod, seeding, and general landscaping.
- Help complete exterior site work and finishing around completed residential properties.
- Maintain tools, equipment, materials, and work areas in an organized condition.
- Follow instructions carefully and ask questions when clarification is needed.
- Learn and develop hands-on construction skills across different stages of the building process.
- Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and job-site rules.
- Work cooperatively with tradespeople, supervisors, and other members of the construction team.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to showing up ready to work.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Comfortable taking direction and working as part of a team.
- Physically capable of performing active, hands-on work throughout the workday.
- Ability to work outdoors and in a variety of weather conditions.
- Safety-conscious and willing to follow established procedures.
- No previous construction experience required; construction, landscaping, or other hands-on work experience is an asset.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and an interest in learning a skilled trade are an asset.
- Valid New Brunswick driver's licence and reliable transportation are an asset.
- CSA-approved steel-toe footwear required.
Working Conditions
- Full-time, year-round employment.
- Work will take place at residential construction sites throughout the Greater Saint John area and in a factory environment.
- Occasional travel between job sites and company-owned properties may be required.
- Work will take place in a variety of weather conditions throughout the year.
- Position involves standing, bending, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and other physical activities.
- Ability to lift up to approximately 50 lbs.
- Employees are expected to remain active and on their feet for much of the workday.
- Required personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn.
