Site Manager – Neighbourly Homes

Location: 178 Thorne Avenue - Saint John, NB Position Type: Full-Time, 40-44 hours/week (rotating schedule) Reports to: Director of Neighbourly Homes Salary: $28/hour - Salary

About Neighbourly Homes

Neighbourly Homes is a fully managed transitional housing community developed by 12 Neighbours Community Inc. We provide more than a place to stay — we foster a community where people can reconnect with stability, dignity, and belonging. Our Saint John site is a micro-home courtyard designed to offer low-barrier, wraparound support to individuals exiting homelessness. Relationships, routine, and respect are at the heart of what we do.

About the Role

The Site Manager is the heartbeat of the courtyard — responsible for day-to-day operations, staff leadership, and maintaining a steady, supportive presence in the community. This role blends frontline relational work with operational coordination and team supervision.

You’ll work alongside full-time and part-time facilitators to ensure the site is safe, calm, and consistent — and that residents and staff alike feel seen, supported, and empowered.

Key ResponsibilitiesCommunity & Culture

Be a consistent, grounded presence on-site, modeling care, clarity, and calm
Build relationships with residents rooted in respect, trust, and healthy boundaries
Support community programming and contribute to a warm, relational culture
Attend and lead resident wellness inspections, staff debriefs, and community updates

Team Leadership

Supervise full-time and part-time facilitators, ensuring they feel supported and set up for success
Lead team scheduling and maintain a fair rotation across all shifts
Onboard, train, and coach staff in trauma-informed, person-first practices
Encourage open communication and team-wide accountability

Site Operations

Oversee 24/7 coverage and ensure the site is well-maintained and welcoming
Respond to incidents or concerns with confidence and compassion
Ensure compliance with NB labour standards, including break scheduling, overnight premiums, and shift rest periods
Coordinate shift transitions, meal break coverage, and consistent documentation

Qualifications

Minimum 4 years of experience in housing, shelter systems, or community-based work
Proven experience supervising staff in a 24/7 or shift-based environment
Strong organizational skills and the ability to calmly manage shifting priorities
Effective communicator with a relational, grounded leadership style
Familiarity with housing-first, low-barrier, or harm reduction models is an asset
Must pass a criminal record and vulnerable sector check
Reliable transportation is required for shift coverage, emergencies, and on-call availability

Certifications

Applicants must have, or be able to obtain prior to employment:

Workplace Standard First Aid & CPR (16-hour course)
Clear Criminal Record Check
Clear Vulnerable Sector Check (including Social Development clearance)

The following are considered strong assets and may be supported through training if not yet held:

Naloxone / Opioid Overdose Response Training
Mental Health First Aid
ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training)
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI)
Trauma-Informed Practice Training

Working Conditions

Full-time, 40-44 hours/week on a rotating schedule, including day, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts
Must be available to respond to on-call and emergency needs
Participation in all-staff meetings, debriefs, and training sessions is required
Meal breaks and rest periods follow NB Employment Standards Act
The role involves:
Supporting individuals with complex needs, including those who may be under the influence or experiencing mental health symptoms
Navigating conversations that may involve trauma
Responding to multiple priorities during busy shifts
Celebrating moments of progress with residents, however small

Pay: $28.00 per hour
