Full job description

Are you a compassionate and empathetic individual dedicated to supporting women? Are you interested in joining a team of women seeking to collectively end the cycle of domestic violence in our community? If yes, please consider applying to become a member of our relief crisis intervention staff.

In this position, you will play a vital role in providing immediate support and assistance to women and children experiencing domestic violence. Your primary focus will be to ensure the safety and well-being of survivors and their families, while providing emotional support, case management, crisis intervention, and access to resources and programming.

Responsibilities:

Provide immediate crisis intervention through a trauma informed lens, in person and via telephone.
Conduct comprehensive needs assessments to determine appropriate services and resources for the specific needs of each client.
Navigate clients through completion of the Danger Assessment, and work with them to develop comprehensive safety plans.
Collaborate with local law enforcement, legal services, child protection, health care providers and other community agencies to coordinate support for clients.
Maintain an accurate and confidential documentation of client files, interactions.
Participate in regular team meetings, case conferences, and professional development opportunities.
Support residents and clients with their daily activities.
Complete light housekeeping duties, and other household responsibilities.
Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

Social Work Technician in good standing with the New Brunswick Association of Social Workers preferred.
Two-year diploma in Social Service Community Work, Human Services or equivalent required.
Previous experience working with individuals who have experienced trauma, specifically domestic/intimate partner violence.
Certification in de-escalation methods and trauma-informed care.
Ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with individuals from diverse backgrounds, demonstrating cultural competence and sensitivity.
Familiarity with community resources and services available to clients we serve.
Effective case and report writing skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
Knowledge of trauma-informed care practices and the ability to provide support in such manner.
Proficient computer skills, including working knowledge of electronic client management systems.
Written and verbal fluency in the English language required. Other languages considered an asset.
Capacity to be a team player.

Compensation and benefits:

Hourly rate of $24.00/hour plus 4% vacation pay (rates reviewed annually). Overtime rates apply to any hours over 44 in a one-week period.
Additional public holiday pay of 4% following completion of probationary period.
100% RRSP matching program up to 2% of income.

As a relief staff team member, you will work in a part-time capacity with the opportunity to transition into full-time over time. Typical shifts are 12 hours, including a 1-hour unpaid break. Shifts are from 7:30AM-7:30PM or 7:30PM-7:30AM.

Expected hours: 11 per week
