Overview

Join our dynamic team as a Short Haul Truck Driver and take charge of delivering freight efficiently and safely within local routes. This role offers an exciting opportunity to operate a variety of vehicles, including heavy-duty trucks, while ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining high safety standards. Your expertise in commercial driving, heavy equipment operation, and automotive repair will be essential in keeping operations smooth and reliable. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about delivering excellence, this is the perfect role for you!

Responsibilities

Tasks

Calculate the cost of truck repairs and new parts if needed

Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions

Professionalism in customer service

Load and unload goods

Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials

Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment

Perform brake adjustments

Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle

Perform preventive maintenance

Receive and relay information to central dispatch

Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption

Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo

Work location- On the road

Work Hours- 40.00 to 60.00 hours per week

Work locations may vary. Frequent or constant travel is required from the employee.
