Under the authority of the Coordinator of Academics, the Pedagogical Counsellor leads the development and offer of Recognition of Acquired Competencies (RAC) services as well as other credited and non-credit programs.
The Pedagogical Counsellor recruits students, provides program information, develops and revises programs, evaluates program quality and provides feedback and training to teachers and content specialists in relevant programs. The incumbent will be responsible for pedagogy and operations in new or existing programs and ensures quality evaluation and learning and strategies, appropriate nature and methods of evaluation, as well as reporting, research and innovation. The Pedagogical counsellor is also responsible for the financial results and tracking of expenses within their programs.
More specifically, but not limited to the following, the Pedagogical Counsellor works in these areas:

Recruits potential RAC candidates and students to assess their capacity for enrolling in identified courses, programs, and/or services offered by the department;

Welcomes, informs and orients RAC candidates and hybrid students wishing to be recognized for RAC and coordinates the process with the content specialists and support staff;

Reviews candidate dossiers and recommends candidate admission;

Acts as a team leader in the offering of services under their responsibility;

Collaborates with the Academic Advisor to provide personalized recognition and training pathways for RAC candidates;

Coordinates the operations, administration and andragogic best-practices within their programs;

Evaluates program quality and provides feedback to content specialists and teachers;

Evaluates programs annually and proceeds to revisions and innovations;

Assists in planning and tracks relevant budgets and ensures that financial targets are met within their programs;

Ensures follow up and individualized assessment of candidate and student progress;

Promotes the RAC services offered to a variety of clienteles, including individuals, employers and grater Vanier community;

Provides pedagogical/andragogic support and guidance to content specialists;
- Develops and revises RAC programs, AEC programs when needed and non-credit courses and programs;

Chairs relevant Program Advisory Committees;

Participates in the selection process and hiring of content specialists for the programs under their responsibility;

Coordinates, supervises and supports the resources assigned to carry out the evaluations of students while respecting the fundamental principles of RAC;

Leads the design, development and revision of RAC tools in collaboration with the content specialists and manager(s);

Collaborates on analyzing industry upskilling needs and planning of non-credit training activities.

Recommends new RAC services, credit and non-credit training programs.
Other related tasks which fall within the scope of the classification of this position may be assigned.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field of specialization, particularly educational science or andragogy.
Conditions related to the specific position:
- Extensive knowledge of post-secondary education and the Quebec college system;

Extensive knowledge of program and/or course development, pedagogy/andragogy for adult learners;

Knowledge of College academic standards, regulations and practices and labor market trends;

Experience in developing and revising AEC programs and RAC tools;

Extensive experience in Prior Learning Assessment & Recognition;

Strong communication skills;
