Position Overview
The Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) is now accepting applications for a
Utility Services Coordinator position based out of Salmon Arm, BC.
Under the general direction of the Manager, Utility Services, the Utility Services Coordinator is responsible for providing operational and technical expertise in the day to day operation of water, sewer and street lighting utilities and is accountable for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and installation of new equipment, relating to water treatment and distribution systems, sewer treatment and collection systems and street lighting systems owned and operated by the regional district.
The Utility Services Coordinator oversees the coordination of staff, contractors and consultants and ensures provision of services in compliance with the respective utility Environmental Operating Certificates, bylaws, policies and statutory requirements.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Oversees and coordinates day to day operation of CSRD utilities including implementing approved goals, policies, programs and procedures to ensure objectives are met and maintained.
- Provides recommendations on technical requirements within the mandate of the provision of services relative to existing CSRD utilities and any utilities that are being considered for acquisition by the CSRD.
- Participates in the ongoing assessment of the existing CSRD utilities needs and the future infrastructure needs and the development of managed maintenance programs and plans for CSRD utilities.
- Participates in the design and review of additional utility systems or system improvements.
- Assists with the collection and plotting of survey data for purposes of asset management and record information.
- Maintains records of grant funded projects and submits claims as well as any required reports; prepares annual reports forall CSRD utilities and maintains statistical and other records and maintains utilities within the parameters of applicable legislation and regulation ensuring that site monitoring activities are completed in accordance with regulatory requirements, such as safety, etc
- Acts as a key member of CSRD utility advisory committees and if required attends public hearings and other public meetings as a resource and/or representative of the CSRD.
- Supports the administration of the CSRD Asset Management Program.
- Assists Financial Services by reviewing invoicing and verifying purchase orders.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Water Quality Technology from a recognized post-secondary institution or a related field.
- Minimum five (5) years' relevant experience, preferably in a unionized, local or regional government environment.
- Environmental Operator Certification Program (EOCP) Certificates.
- Small System Operator
- Water Distribution Level I (Level II preferred)
- Water Treatment Level I (Level II preferred)
- Sewer Collection Level I (Level II preferred)
- Backflow Assembly Tester Certificate (asset).
- Chlorine Handler Certificate (asset).
- A member in good standing with the EOCP.
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.
- Valid Basic First Aid (OFA 1) Certificate.
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Compensation
Position Type: Permanent full time (35 hour work week)
Union: CUPE Local 1908
Salary Range: $3,189.26 to $3,559.45 bi-weekly (January 2026 rates)

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
