Outside Sales Representative – Utility & Industrial Supply

Location: Salmon Arm, BC or Surrey BC (remote / field-based)

Territory: British Columbia Company: LineStar Utility Supply

About the Role

LineStar Utility Supply is seeking a driven Outside Sales Representative to grow and manage a defined customer territory in British Columbia. You’ll build strong relationships with utility, industrial, and contractor customers—identifying needs, proposing practical solutions, and earning long-term business through responsive service and consistent follow-through.

This role is ideal for a consultative seller who enjoys being in the field, can navigate jobsite and operations environments, and is comfortable working across branches and internal teams to deliver the right product, at the right time.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

· Develop and grow sales within British Columbia by prospecting new accounts, expanding share of wallet within existing customers, and converting opportunities into repeatable, long-term business.

· Maintain and expand relationships with existing customers while actively pursuing new business through site visits, account planning, and pipeline management.

· Identify opportunities to improve customer outcomes through standardization, product substitutions, and planned ordering (e.g., stocking programs and scheduled replenishment).

· Collaborate with internal teams to support multi-site customers and coordinate opportunities that extend beyond the territory as needed.

Customer Support & Solution Engagement

· Conduct on-site customer visits to understand applications, demonstrate product solutions, and identify opportunities to improve uptime, productivity, and cost control.

· Assist customers with product selection, quoting, and order planning; ensure expectations are clear around lead times, alternates, and delivery.

· Support customer success by coordinating order status updates, resolving issues, and engaging the right internal resources when challenges arise.

· Work closely with inside sales, product specialists, and operations to deliver a consistent customer experience from quote to delivery.

· Assist with bids, tenders, and customer pricing programs, coordinating inputs across the business as required.

Territory Management & Reporting

· Stay current on customer applications, competitor activity, and market conditions across the territory to identify trends and new opportunities.

· Track activity, opportunities, and pipeline using company CRM tools

· Represent LineStar professionally at customer sites, trade shows, and industry events.

Qualifications & Experience

· Proven experience in outside sales, preferably within industrial supply, utility, construction, electrical, or energy-related markets.

· Strong consultative selling skills, including discovery, solution positioning, and closing.

· Ability to learn a broad product offering and communicate value confidently with forepersons, buyers, operations leaders, and field crews.

· Strong communication, relationship‑building, and presentation skills

· Ability to work independently while collaborating with internal teams

· Comfortable with frequent travel throughout British Columbia and occasional travel elsewhere in Canada and the USA for training purposes.

· Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

· Strong time management, organization, and follow‑up skills
