The Insignia Hotel is an 84-room boutique property that blends historic charm with modern elegance. As part of Marriott’s Tribute Portfolio, our hotel offers upscale amenities including a saltwater pool, dry saunas, a fitness centre, fine dining restaurant and bar, and two distinct meeting spaces: the private Banquet Hall and the historic Drawbridge Room. With a small but agile team, we prioritize collaboration, guest satisfaction, and revenue generation across all departments.
Position Overview
We’re looking for a Director of Sales who thrives in a hands-on, entrepreneurial environment. This role is ideal for someone who is proactive, self-motivated, and passionate about relationship-building and results. You will be the sole sales lead at the property—responsible for generating and managing room sales and group bookings from start to finish, and for selling meeting space, which will then be detailed by our Events Manager.
This role is highly incentive-driven, with uncapped commissions tied directly to room night production through your efforts. While Marriott experience is not required, the successful candidate must be willing to learn Marriott systems (CI/TY, MRDW, Lightspeed, etc.) within the first 3–4 months, with full training support provided.
You’ll work closely with our Assistant General Manager, Revenue Manager, Events Manager, Restaurant Manager, Admin, and Front Desk team Together, this team ensures that all bookings—both rooms and events—are captured, detailed, and executed smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively prospect local businesses, associations, and group segments to drive new corporate and group room bookings
- Sell hotel meeting spaces as part of larger room night packages and collaborate with Events Manager for detailing
- Be visible in the community and on property—network at events, visit clients, and connect with guests during breakfast, check-in/out, and bar hours to identify potential leads
- Develop and manage strategic rate plans and corporate packages to maximize occupancy and ADR
- Ensure bookings are entered accurately in CI/TY and the PMS system
- Lead all sales-related reporting, forecasting, and budgeting
- Oversee local marketing efforts, partnerships, and promotions to support direct booking growth
- Provide occasional admin support for proposals, contracts, and group communications, with some assistance from front desk and admin team
Qualifications
- 3+ years of hotel sales experience (Marriott experience an asset, but not required)
- Proven ability to generate business through proactive outreach, networking, and community presence
- Strong understanding of revenue management and sales strategy
- Comfortable selling and managing room sales end-to-end, including contracting and client follow-up
- Experience with CI/TY, MRDW, Lightspeed, or similar systems preferred (training provided if not)
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Willingness to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
