Job Summary
The Independent Business Development Representative will be responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities with importers, distributors, retailers, government agencies, contractors, and other strategic customers throughout Ontario and Quebec.
The successful candidate is a self-starter with a strong hunter mentality who enjoys opening doors, creating opportunities, and building long-term customer relationships.
While experience in plumbing, HVAC, industrial products, or construction materials is valuable, we place greater emphasis on proven sales ability, business development expertise, and relationship-building skills. Product and industry training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and develop new customer opportunities throughout Ontario and Quebec.
- Build relationships with importers, distributors, retailers, contractors, and public sector organizations.
- Generate new business through prospecting, networking, referrals, and market research.
- Conduct customer meetings, presentations, and product demonstrations.
- Develop and maintain a healthy sales pipeline.
- Negotiate commercial terms and secure purchase commitments.
- Maintain accurate opportunity tracking through the company CRM system.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure successful order execution and customer satisfaction.
- Represent IUSA Canada at industry events, trade shows, and customer meetings.
- Monitor market trends, customer needs, and competitive activity.
- Develop long-term strategic customer relationships that support recurring business.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Success in this role will be measured through:
- Acquisition of at least one new customer account per month.
- Achievement of a minimum 70% conversion rate from qualified prospects to purchasing customers during the initial development period.
- Growth of territory revenue and market share.
- Development of recurring customer relationships.
- Consistent pipeline activity and sales forecasting accuracy.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in B2B sales, preferably within the industrial or manufacturing sectors. Minimum 2-5 years experience.
- Strong negotiation skills with a track record of closing deals effectively.
- Excellent business development abilities with a strategic mindset. Strong prospective, negotiation, and closing skills.
- Proficiency to build relationship.
- Experience using SAP or similar CRM platforms for account management and reporting.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities with the ability to work independently while managing multiple client relationships.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present ideas clearly and persuasively in English
- Self-motivated with a proactive attitude towards achieving targets and expanding market presence.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel approximately 50% of the time.

Existing industry relationships are considered an asset but are not required. French & Spanish language skills are considered an asset.
