Specific Accountabilities:
The Professor will be responsible for providing academic leadership and for developing an effective environment through the design and revision of programs and courses, defining and evaluating learning outcomes, developing appropriate teaching and learning environments that support student success, and developing/selecting appropriate learning materials. You will be expected to support student learning and progress, create assessments and rubrics, and evaluate student achievement.
Active participation in developing and modifying curriculum, participation in various committees, employing best practices from across the post-secondary education college system, and maintaining currency in your field through consultation with industry representatives are essential components of this position. In this role, you will work collaboratively with your teaching team to ensure quality program delivery and student experiences.
You will champion the development of customized training and educational programs in collaboration with public and private sector partners. Program promotion and student recruitment are essential areas of responsibility.

The incumbent could be expected to teach in the following programs: Heating, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Technician.
The incumbent reports to the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science, Engineering Technology and Trades. Salary range for this position is as per the Academic Collective Agreement ($77,153 - $133,752) and will be determined at the point of hire based on our internal classification form.
Qualifications:
- Qualified applicants will possess a related and relevant post-secondary diploma with a minimum of 5 years of field-related experience as a Gas Technician 1 or 2
- TSSA Gas Technician 2 is required; TSSA Gas Technician 1 is preferred
- Must have a working knowledge of construction and building energy policies, laws, codes, standards, and rating systems for Canadian buildings and demonstrated expertise in basic and advanced building science principles focused on heat, air, and moisture transfer within buildings
- Must be an excellent communicator, possess strong interpersonal skills, and be able to relate effectively to a wide variety of learners
- Candidates who demonstrate knowledge or competency in the following academic skills and abilities will be given preference: curriculum design; instructional design and delivery; active, collaborative learning techniques; effective assessment and evaluation of learning; and appropriate use of technology for teaching and learning
- Preferred qualifications include previous teaching or training experience at the post-secondary level
- The ideal candidate will think broadly, celebrate diversity of thought, and respect the uniqueness of individuals
