Full job description

Position Summary:
This position coordinates volunteer support for Wanuskewin’s ongoing activities and events, and the applicable communication, outreach, and administration. The role focuses on developing innovative community engaged programs, fostering effective partnerships, and strengthening relationships with Wanuskewin’s community, including members, volunteers, and donors.
You are a motivated, relationship-focused individual who thrives in a collaborative environment. You communicate clearly and respectfully, with the presence to lead volunteers and represent Wanuskewin in community settings. You approach your work with cultural sensitivity, and take initiative to strengthen community connections. You balance creativity with organization, manage multiple priorities effectively, and bring enthusiasm to engaging volunteers, members, and donors in Wanuskewin’s mission.

Your duties and responsibilities include:
Fundraising Assistance

Input, update, and maintain confidential donor records (financial and in-kind) with a high level of accuracy in the donor database.
Prepare and issue donor acknowledgment letters and charitable tax receipts in compliance with CRA receipting guidelines and best practices.
Produce reports such as social impact summaries and ad hoc data requests to support fundraising and communications needs.
Assist with planning and execution of fundraising campaigns, events, and donor stewardship activities.
Prepare timely and accurate reports of volunteer activities for donors, sponsors, and grant funders (e.g., SaskCulture).
Foster a culture of giving and community spirit among volunteers in alignment with Wanuskewin’s fund development strategy.

Community Engagement

Create and maintain regular communication with members, donors, and volunteers through newsletters and other channels.
Maintain volunteer registration forms on the website, track volunteer engagement, and ensure effective email communication.
Identify volunteer opportunities across the organization and onboard new volunteers.
Maintain and update volunteer records and the volunteer database.
Design, deliver, and/or oversee volunteer training programs and orientations, and provide ongoing support, guidance, and feedback.
Organize and coordinate volunteer schedules, assignments, and recognition events.
Build and maintain relationships with local organizations, schools, and businesses to expand the volunteer base.
Collaborate with the broader Wanuskewin team to develop site activation ideas that enhance community engagement.

Membership Activities

Oversee Wanuskewin’s membership program, ensuring membership data is accurate and consistent across platforms (Mailchimp, CanadaHelps, and Square). Continuously improve processes to enhance member experience.
Support corporate membership initiatives, including coordinating online series and serving as the primary liaison for corporate member engagement.
Works in a safe manner, following safety regulations
Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

One to three years in a community engagement, fundraising, or a related field.
Post secondary degree in Arts, Culture, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, including volunteer experience.
Experience with Website Platforms (Word Press) considered an asset.
Knowledge of Indigenous cultures would be considered an asset.
Clear, concise, and accurate writing skills with a high attention to detail.
Demonstrate and promote cultural sensitivity and respect when working with volunteers and community partners.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
A suitable combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

Combination of sedentary and active work, including extended periods of sitting for administrative tasks, planning, and communication along with movement throughout the building and grounds.
Ability to walk long distances on uneven terrain, including trails, outdoor spaces, and program areas.
Ability to lift, carry, and move items up to 50 lbs, such as equipment, or supplies.
Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions throughout the year.

Additional Requirements:

A satisfactory criminal record check is required as a condition of employment.
Wanuskewin is located outside of Saskatoon city limits and public transportation is not available. Reliable personal transportation is required.
Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and present a satisfactory drivers abstract.
