Position Summary
Shadow Integrated Systems is seeking a skilled and motivated Fire Alarm & Security Systems Supervisor / Electrician to lead installation, service, inspection, and maintenance projects for commercial, industrial, and institutional clients. This position combines hands-on technical work with project supervision, staff leadership, customer service, and quality control responsibilities.
The successful candidate will ensure all systems are installed and maintained in compliance with applicable electrical codes, fire codes, manufacturer requirements, and company standards while leading technicians and apprentices in the field.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Supervision
- Supervise and coordinate technicians, electricians, apprentices, and subcontractors.
- Plan daily work assignments and project schedules.
- Provide mentorship, training, and performance feedback to team members.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct site meetings and communicate project expectations.
Fire Alarm Systems
- Install, program, test, inspect, troubleshoot, and service fire alarm systems.
- Perform annual inspections and verification testing.
- Interpret fire alarm drawings, specifications, and code requirements.
- Coordinate fire alarm commissioning with authorities having jurisdiction and customers.
- Prepare inspection reports and deficiency documentation.
Security & Life Safety Systems
- Install, service, and troubleshoot:
- Intrusion alarm systems
- Access control systems
- CCTV/video surveillance systems
- Intercom and communication systems
- Emergency notification systems
- Program and configure integrated security solutions.
- Assist customers with system operation and training.
Electrical Responsibilities
- Install and maintain electrical wiring, conduits, devices, and equipment associated with low-voltage and life safety systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical drawings.
- Ensure installations comply with the Canadian Electrical Code and applicable regulations.
- Perform electrical troubleshooting and repairs.
Project Management
- Manage project timelines, labour requirements, and material procurement.
- Coordinate with customers, contractors, consultants, and inspectors.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and service records.
- Monitor project quality and profitability.
- Assist with estimating and project planning when required.
Qualifications
Required
- Journeyperson Electrician certification or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in fire alarm, security, or electrical systems.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Fire alarm systems
- Security systems
- Access control
- CCTV systems
- Low-voltage wiring practices
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and system drawings.
- Strong troubleshooting and leadership skills.
Preferred
- Fire alarm technician certification.
- Experience with commercial and industrial systems.
- Experience supervising technicians and apprentices.
- Knowledge of integrated building systems.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Lift, fall protection, and safety certifications.
