About Agi3 Risk Services
Agi3 Risk Services is a Canadian-owned insurance brokerage and Managing General Agent specializing in agricultural insurance.
We provide private crop insurance to commercial farms across Western Canada, including yield-based and revenue-based coverage designed to complement provincial AgriInsurance, AgriStability, crop hail insurance, and other farm risk-management tools.
Our product suite also includes ForwardProtect™, a market-first insurance solution that protects producers against grain forward-contract buyout costs when insured production falls short.
Our insurance products are supported by agricultural, actuarial, underwriting, and claims expertise, together with the Agi3 technology platform and AI-driven analytics. These capabilities help us assess farm risk, develop more individualized coverage, streamline insurance processes, and support better-informed decisions throughout the growing season.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a licensed Crop Insurance Broker with direct experience selling, advising on, underwriting, or servicing crop insurance.
You will work directly with commercial farmers to understand their operations, production histories, existing coverage, and risk-management priorities. You will advise producers on yield-based, revenue-based, and forward-contract protection and explain how private insurance can complement public programs and other risk-management tools.
This role combines new-business development with the ongoing management of crop insurance clients through application, quotation, renewal, in-season servicing, and claims support.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop new crop insurance business and build long-term relationships with commercial farm clients.
- Assess each farm’s acreage, crop mix, production history, marketing position, existing coverage, and risk-management priorities.
- Advise producers on Agi3’s yield-based and revenue-based crop insurance solutions and ForwardProtect™.
- Explain how private coverage may work alongside provincial AgriInsurance, AgriStability, crop hail insurance, and other Canadian business risk management programs.
- Present coverage options, premiums, eligibility requirements, producer obligations, and potential claim outcomes clearly and accurately.
- Gather and review applications, acreage and crop information, production histories, marketing information, and other required documentation.
- Prepare quotations and recommendations and coordinate submissions, underwriting requirements, client decisions, and binding.
- Manage renewals and in-season servicing, including required reporting, policy changes, and account follow-up.
- Support clients through the claims process by explaining requirements, gathering documentation, and coordinating with Agi3’s claims and underwriting teams.
- Maintain accurate client, policy, renewal, pipeline, and activity records in Agi3’s systems.
- Keep current on crop conditions, commodity markets, insurance developments, and changes to Canadian agricultural risk-management programs.
- Represent Agi3 professionally at farm meetings, producer events, trade shows, and other agricultural industry activities.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- An active general insurance agent or broker licence in Alberta, Saskatchewan, or Manitoba.
- Eligibility and willingness to obtain and maintain the additional licences required to conduct insurance business in all three Prairie provinces.
- At least five years of insurance experience, including direct experience selling, advising on, underwriting, or servicing crop insurance.
- Strong understanding of insurance principles, policy terms, documentation requirements, producer obligations, and claims processes.
- Knowledge of commercial farming and the yield, price, revenue, weather, production, and marketing risks faced by Canadian producers.
- Ability to interpret acreage information, crop plans, production histories, and other information used in crop insurance recommendations and applications.
- Experience advising clients and explaining complex insurance coverage in clear, practical language.
- Strong business-development, relationship-management, communication, and presentation skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage applications, renewals, reporting requirements, and seasonal deadlines.
- Sound judgment and the ability to identify matters requiring underwriting, claims, actuarial, or management review.
- Proficiency with CRM systems, spreadsheets, electronic documents, and online insurance platforms.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating with a distributed team.
- Residence in Alberta, Saskatchewan, or Manitoba and legal authorization to work in Canada.
- Ability to travel for farm visits, client meetings, agricultural events, and team activities as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with private yield, revenue, margin, production-cost, or crop hail insurance.
- Excellent knowledge of provincial AgriInsurance programs in Alberta, Saskatchewan, or Manitoba.
- Familiarity with AgriStability and other Canadian business risk management programs.
- Experience advising larger or more complex commercial farms.
- Knowledge of crop production, commodity marketing, agricultural finance, or farm financial statements.
