Your Opportunity at SECURE:
As Field Service Technician, you are responsible for providing technical assistance and on-site support across all aspects of waste services. This role includes collecting hazardous waste from customer sites, performing field tests to identify unknown chemicals, and packaging, labeling, transporting, and offloading waste materials. You will also support emergency response activities and provide after-hours assistance as needed as part of the Field Services and Incident Response Team.
This position is based out of Swift Current, SK and requires travel to customer sites throughout Saskatchewan, with occasional travel to Alberta as operational needs require.

Work Environment:
This is a fixed-term, 6-month contract position with a standard 40-hour workweek from Monday to Friday, including opportunities for overtime and occasional on-call duties.
The role requires flexibility in scheduling, with potential for extended hours, weekend work, and travel based on business needs. Work locations and customer sites will vary, with each project presenting unique challenges, problem-solving opportunities, and new environments. Candidates must be prepared to work in demanding conditions, including outdoor work in all weather conditions.
A Day in The Life:
- Sample / test waste to determine transportation, packaging, and/or disposal requirements

Complete and document safety assessments.

Conduct on-site testing to ensure materials comply with regulatory, safety, and quality standards

Accurately collect and record data for reporting purposes.

Sample, segregate, package, and transport hazardous wastes to our processing facility.

Complete appropriate manifest/paperwork to support the waste pick up

Respond to and support all Incident Response work.

Evaluate customer needs and communicate it back to the appropriate Project Manager.

Complete field services work (remediation) on various customer sites throughout the province.

Ensure safety and compliance onsite is maintained by all internal employees and 3rd party contractors. Lead tailgate meetings and issue permits for various work sites.

Conduct field work including manual labor at remote project sites on an as needed basis.

Operate small equipment such as forklifts, pumps, etc.

Attend safety meetings and abide by SECURE’s Occupational Health and Safety Program.

Participate in and lead Daily Tailgate Meetings and periodic worksite inspections
Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
- Post-Secondary diploma or degree in a Science or Environmental related discipline is considered an asset

Technical and regulatory knowledge related to the waste services industry, with the ability to ensure compliance of waste transport rules, regulatory requirements and TDG regulations

Valid and current Class 5 Driver’s License with clean abstract

Competent at completing documents on a daily basis including safety paperwork, waste manifests, and bills of lading

Ability to complete field notes clearly and concisely.

Ability to complete field drawings and use GPS equipment.

Strong work ethic and willingness to persevere through difficult weather conditions, occasional unplanned overtime hours, challenging work site environments and demanding work loads

Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks on a daily basis including lifting/lowering/pushing/pulling containers and other heavy objects, along with the ability to spend a major portion of each day on your feet

Proficient with a wide range of computer programs including MS Office, and an aptitude for learning additional industry specific programs on computer and mobile devices.

Strong time management skills and ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
