Join the BGC Saskatoon Neighbourhood Club team as a Program Leader. In this role, you will help deliver safe, supportive, and engaging after-school programs for school-aged children and youth. You'll play an important part in helping young people build confidence, develop new skills, and feel a strong sense of belonging.
Our Neighbourhood Club Programs are free, community-based programs offered in targeted schools with high percentages of low-income families. These programs support children and youth while parents and caregivers are working, attending school or training, or balancing other commitments.
Position Details
Neighbourhood Club Program Leaders work up to 15 hours per week and are assigned to one of our Confederation Park, Pleasant Hill, or White Buffalo Club locations. Shifts are scheduled on weekday afternoons, typically between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., with start times varying based on the school site. All shifts include a minimum three-hour paid call-out.
This flexible, part-time position is ideal for post-secondary students, stay-at-home parents, newcomers to Canada seeking work experience, or youth looking to build skills and make a positive impact in their community.
Additional opportunities and hours may be available for Neighbourhood Club Program Leaders interested in working as a morning Before & After School Program Leader (PT or casual) across multiple Club locations. Throughout the year, there may also be opportunities to join our Summer Camp Programs or Early Learning Centres in full-time or part-time roles.
Shifts are not scheduled on school holidays, breaks, or professional development days.
What You’ll Do
As a Program Leader, you will help create a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment where children can learn, play, and thrive.
Responsibilities include:

Planning and leading engaging daily activities based on children's interests and healthy childhood development principles

Supervising groups of children (1 leader to 15 children)

Ensuring participants feel physically and emotionally safe

Using positive guidance and behaviour management techniques

Building supportive relationships with children and youth

Communicating daily with parents and caregivers

Collaborating with fellow Program Leaders, supervisors, managers, and school staff

Support You’ll Receive
Program Leaders are supported by a team of Coordinators and Managers who assist with:

Program supplies and materials

Scheduling and time-off requests

Program evaluations

Problem-solving and resource support

Communication with parents and school administration (as needed)

Bi-weekly payroll processing.
Qualifications/Requirements

Applicants must be at least 16 years of age and eligible to work in Canada

CPR/First Aid Certification (required - within first two months of employment)

High Five – Principles of Healthy Childhood Development (PHCD) Certification

BGC Saskatoon will cover the cost of obtaining your High Five - Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) certification if you are hired and do not already have it. As this certification is a condition of employment, the time spent completing the training will not be paid.

Canadian Language Benchmark Level 6 or higher preferred

Previous experience in childcare, education, recreation, coaching, or volunteer work with children is considered an asset

Completion of additional mandatory employer-provided training upon hiring
Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
