Overview
The Civil QC Inspector / Coordinator will be responsible for performing quality checks and inspections and for assisting the project team with accurate, timely quality and technical support throughout the project. The QC inspector is an integral part of the project team, serving as the go-to for all technical aspects, providing in-field support, looking after quality-related subcontractor’s Construction Activities, and performing all quality functions.
The work schedule for this position will be 2 Weeks On / 2 Weeks Off in Northern Saskatchewan.
Roles and Responsibilities
Perform inspections and quality checks in the field, regardless of weather, on upcoming, ongoing, and completed work.
Ensure that all QA/QC activities are understood and implemented in accordance with company, client, regional, and regulatory standards.
Manage all technical information pertinent to the project, maintaining a working knowledge of ongoing and upcoming project requirements, design, and standards.
Complete quality surveillance reports, RFIs, document control, manage technical aspects of the project and required documentation, perform progressive turnover, and manage all quality documentation at a project level under the direction of the Project Quality Lead/ Quality Manager and Site Manager/PM.
Educate and provide recommendations to the project team about project quality and technical requirements, and provide improvement initiatives to the Project Quality Lead/ Quality Manager and project team.
Continuously monitor construction activities for deviations from specification and ensure deviations are immediately brought to the attention of the construction team and/or addressed appropriately.
Communicate and coordinate with the project management team to ensure all customer concerns regarding quality are addressed efficiently and effectively.
Gather information about any quality-related or technical construction concerns to identify issues, consult, problem-solve, and provide solutions for issues.
Drive continuous improvement and zero defects through quality plans and processes.
Write and maintain various formal quality management documents such as ITP, checklists, Quality work procedures & other client and internal needs.
Minimize deficiencies and reworks by ensuring the construction team has access to all required project documentation and assisting field supervisors with identifying areas of concern.
Drive through various driving conditions, including heavy civil mining footprints, highways, congested work sites, controlled worksites, and extreme rough terrain.
Experience, Competencies, and Certification.
Minimum 5 years of experience in Quality Management of Heavy Civil Construction is considered an asset
Degree or diploma in either Engineering or Engineering Tech.
Strong verbal communication, conflict management, and interpersonal skills
Ability to read and interpret standards, drawings, and technical documents
Able to spend large parts of the day in the field walking across uneven and challenging terrains in varying weather conditions (winter and summer)
Able to keep detailed notes and possesses strong organization and document control skills
Ability to handle tight deadlines and manage the workload of multiple projects simultaneously
Existing field experience in site safety procedures, including a minimum of 3 years of experience working around heavy Civil Earthwork Construction, Heavy Rebars, Culverts, Bridge & Abutments, etc.
Pay: $40.00-$45.00 per hour
