Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to join our team in the food manufacturing industry. The Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible for managing and maintaining food safety and quality programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory and certification requirements, and promoting a strong food safety and quality culture throughout the facility.
Responsibilities
- Lead and provide guidance in the implementation of relevant policies/procedures to consistently meet the certification scheme requirements of BRC Global Standard for Food Safety, Gluten-Free Certification Organization (GFCO), Organic systems program, Kosher, Non-GMO Project Verification, Regenerative Organic Certified®, and other relevant certifications which Above Ingredients Inc. holds certifications with.
· Lead and provide guidance to ensure consistent adherence to GMPs and all relevant food safety and quality programs.
· Ensure all relevant certifications and licenses are current and renewed in a timely manner.
· Direct, update, and manage the food safety program to consistently meet the requirements of BRC, relevant regulatory guidelines, and customer requirements.
· Direct, update, and manage relevant policies/procedures to consistently meet the requirements of GFCO, Organic systems program, Kosher, Non-GMO Project Verification, and other relevant certifications which Above Ingredients Inc. holds certifications with.
· Ensure that all aspects of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Food Safety and Quality Management Systems (FSQMS), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP), and relevant policies, procedures, and records are established, updated, maintained, and consistently implemented.
· Plan, develop, and execute Food Safety training for relevant employees and ensure HACCP Team members are trained and qualified.
· Lead investigations, root cause analysis, and tracking of food safety and quality concerns from process deviations, audit non-conformances, and customer claims. Where applicable, initiate and collaborate with relevant teams on CAPA documentation and recommend improvements.
· Lead change management and product development activities according to established protocols.
· Serve as a liaison between Above Ingredients Inc. and government agencies or certification scheme agencies to ensure the company remains up to date on relevant changes and identify steps required to maintain compliance.
· Facilitate and lead internal, customer, governmental, and third-party audits.
· Manage supplier onboarding qualifications to ensure adherence to Above Ingredients Inc. Food Safety and Quality programs.
· Provide support to Sales in addressing customer onboarding and product qualification requests and inquiries.
· Collaborate with Research and Development in establishing and approving product specifications.
· Collaborate with the HACCP Team and Senior Management Team in establishing Food Safety and quality objectives.
· Facilitate and lead food safety meetings, including HACCP Team meetings and Senior Management Review meetings, to share updates on food safety program implementation and recommend resources and actions required for continuous program implementation.
· Direct Quality Control Technicians to ensure appropriate testing procedures are maintained, updated, implemented, and results are tracked in a timely manner. Act as an alternate Quality Control representative where necessary.
· Provide guidance to the Senior Quality Control Technician in providing product statuses.
· Promote and sustain food safety and quality awareness throughout the facility with the intent to improve food safety culture.
· Approve third-party testing invoices according to assigned approval limits.
· Collaborate with the General Manager and Finance Controller with respect to the annual budget review related to Quality Assurance and Quality Control.
· Complete performance reviews of all direct reports.
Perform other duties as assigned by Management.

Qualifications
· Science degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or related science field
· At least 5 years' experience in food manufacturing
Working Conditions
Must be able to work in noisy or dusty conditions; combination of office environment and production/warehouse floor environments.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $80,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
