Ferroclad Fisheries Limited is a fish processing and distribution plant that operates under Presteve Foods. We sell the highest quality fish found in the Great Lakes.

Job Summary:

Broadly defined, the Production Lead Hand is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities around the facility. The Production Lead Hand will be working in a fast-paced environment and making sure that the facility is running efficiently, and the proper processes are being followed so we are delivering the highest quality of product to our customers!

Job Responsibilities:

Responsible for receiving the fish as it comes off the boat
Responsible for sorting fish according to species and weight
Responsible for the handling and packing of fish
Oversee employee’s packing fish to ensure they are packing to customer specification
Oversee day to day activities within the processing plant
Responsible for packing and overseeing the packaging process
Responsible for unloading the fish and ensuring proper procedures are followed
Responsible for using the scale to weigh fish, track the weight and ensure its accurately inputted into the system
Ensure weight of packed fish are being recorded and inputted into the system
Oversee orders being shipped to ensure they are complete and accurate
Responsible for completing and ensuring proper sanitation process is performed daily to avoid contamination
Regular housekeeping duties to ensure facility is kept clean and tidy
Maintenance tasks such as fixing pallets, etc., when necessary
Responsible for utilizing forklift to moving totes / skids of product around as needed
Responsible for the ensuring garbage is disposed of on a weekly basis
Escalate concerns as they arise to proper parties
Assist in the training and development of new and existing employee’s
Responsible for addressing employee concerns including disciplinary action when necessary
Comply with Health and Food Safety practices to ensure a safe working environment
Possess healthy leadership style that promotes compliance and inclusion
Additional duties as required

Qualifications:

Must have strong written and oral communication skills
Must have a valid G license
Proactive critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Ability to work as part of a Team as well as independently
Forklift experience considered an asset
Maintenance experience considered an asset
Highschool Diploma, GED or equivalent considered an asset

Physical Abilities:

Employee must be able to sit / stand for long periods of time
Employee must be willing to work in a cold / wet environment
Employee must be able to bend, lift and twist
Employee must be able to lift to 75lbs
