Position Summary
The CNC Machinist & Technologist is responsible for the accurate setup, operation, documentation, and continuous improvement of CNC machining processes for assigned machines and part families. This role requires strong GD&T literacy, a deep understanding of machining fundamentals, and the ability to interpret complex engineering drawings. Machinists are expected to maintain a comprehensive understanding of their assigned equipment, tooling requirements, preventative maintenance needs, and standard work procedures.

Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Responsibilities
- Interpret engineering drawings, models, and specifications with strong proficiency in GD&T.
- Set up, operate, and monitor CNC mills, lathes, and multi‑axis machining centers for high‑complexity components.
- Validate and document standard work procedures, including setup sheets, tooling lists, offsets, and in‑process checks.
- Perform first‑article inspections and verify conformance using precision measurement tools.
- Identify tooling requirements, maintain tooling inventories, and collaborate with programming/engineering on toolpath optimization.
- Conduct routine and preventative maintenance on assigned machines; report abnormalities promptly.
- Troubleshoot machining issues related to chatter, tool wear, surface finish, dimensional variation, and work holding.
- Maintain accurate records of part numbers, revisions, and process changes.
Quality & Compliance
- Follow Dishon’s quality management system, including documentation, traceability, and non‑conformance reporting.
- Apply statistical thinking and root‑cause analysis to reduce variation and improve process capability.
- Ensure all work adheres to safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Collaboration & Knowledge Development
- Work closely with engineering, programming, and quality teams to refine machining strategies.
- Contribute to the development of organizational knowledge through documentation, mentorship, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in cross‑functional problem‑solving and kaizen activities.
- Support onboarding and training of junior machinists.

QualificationsRequired
- 3–5+ years of CNC machining experience (milling, turning, or multi‑axis).
- Strong GD&T literacy and blueprint interpretation skills.
- Proficiency with precision measurement tools.
- Experience machining tight‑tolerance, high‑complexity components.
- Ability to document standard work and follow controlled processes.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
Preferred
- Experience in aerospace, defense, or high‑precision manufacturing.
- Familiarity with CAM programming concepts (Mastercam, NX, ESPRIT or similar).
- Experience with exotic materials (Inconel, titanium, stainless steels).
- Exposure to lean manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement methodologies.
Working Conditions
- Full‑time, on‑site role in Concord, Ontario.
