Full job description

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced, highly organized, and detail-oriented Bookkeeper / Office Manager to join our team. In this role, you will manage our daily financial operations, ensure full compliance with BC payroll regulations, and act as a key point of contact for the company.

The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in QuickBooks Desktop and Excel, works exceptionally well independently, and maintains a calm, focused demeanor in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

Daily Accounting & Data Entry: Manage daily full-cycle accounting activities, accounts payable/receivable (AP/AR), and ensure all transactions align with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Reconciliations: Perform accurate monthly reconciliations of bank statements, credit card statements, and general ledger accounts.
Payroll & Source Deductions: Process regular payroll, calculate and remit source deductions accurately.
Compliance & Reporting: Manage reporting and compliance with WorkSafeBC, ensuring accurate classification and timely submissions. Prepare year end documents for the accountant.
Communication & Correspondence: Act as a professional liaison, corresponding daily via email and phone with sub-contractors, homeowners, vendors, and other external parties.
Management Support: Provide administrative support to the Manager and leadership team on ad-hoc projects as needed.

Qualifications & Skills

Software Expertise: Extensive, hands-on knowledge of QuickBooks (Desktop preferred) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, data management).
Accounting Knowledge: A strong, foundational understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
Tech Savvy: Strong overall proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Work Style: Proven ability to organize, prioritize, and manage a heavy workload independently with minimal supervision.
Thrives Under Pressure: An aptitude for working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining a calm, sharp focus during peak active periods.
Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for professional correspondence with diverse parties (homeowners to sub-contractors).

Education & Experience

Certificate, diploma, or degree in Accounting, Finance, or Bookkeeping (or equivalent experience).
Minimum of 3-5years of full-cycle bookkeeping experience.
Experience navigating BC employment standards and WorkSafeBC regulations is highly desirable.

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
