Full job description

Transdev Canada is seeking dedicated and compassionate relief casual HandyDART Bus Drivers to join our Victoria team.

As a HandyDART Driver, you will provide essential transportation services for individuals with disabilities and mobility challenges, ensuring their safety, comfort, and dignity. If you have a strong commitment to helping others and a passion for driving, we encourage you to apply for this rewarding role.

Your role:

Provide safe and courteous door-to-door service to passengers driving our cutaway-style buses.
Assist passengers with boarding, securing mobility devices, and disembarking using appropriate on-board restraints for wheelchairs and other mobility aids.
Comply with all traffic regulations, company Safety & Health regulations, and accessible transportation standards.
Follow assigned routes and schedules, making stops at designated locations to ensure passengers' timely arrival at their destinations.
Provide a safe, respectful, and empathetic environment for passengers, addressing their specific needs and concerns.
Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any defects or maintenance issues to the maintenance team.
Maintain a clean and professional appearance and demeanour.

Your profile:

You hold a class 1, 2 or 4 Unrestricted Driver's License. For qualified candidates with customer service and/or care experience, we are looking for individuals who hold a Class 5 driver’s licence and are interested in joining our team. Training will be provided, provided that candidates obtain their Class 4 Learner’s licence by September 7. This requires successfully completing the written exam for the Class 4 licence.
You have a clean driving record.
You must be able to pass drug and alcohol testing and criminal background checks.
You have a strong commitment to safety and customer service, and enjoy interacting with the public.
You can operate accessible transportation equipment and secure mobility devices.
You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
You desire to make a real difference in the lives of the customers you serve
Prior experience in passenger transportation, especially with individuals with disabilities, is an asset.

Your location:

This is a relief casual, unionized position in Victoria, BC.
Flexible schedule with two guaranteed days off each week.
HandyDART Bus Drivers must be available for at least 5 days a week.
