Position Summary
St. Paul’s United Church is seeking a warm, creative, organized, and community-minded person to serve as our Program Coordinator. This half-time position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, building relationships, and helping communities flourish. The successful candidate will combine strong interpersonal skills with practical abilities in program development, project coordination, event planning, and community engagement. The Program Coordinator will help nurture a church culture that is welcoming, creative, organized, and deeply connected to the wider community. Working collaboratively with the Coordinating Minister, Operations Coordinator, staff, volunteers, and community partners, this person will develop and coordinate programs and events that strengthen relationships, encourage participation, and support the life of the congregation and community.
Core Areas of Responsibility
1. Community Connection & Caring Presence
- Offer a warm, welcoming, and supportive presence within the congregation and wider community.
- Build relationships with newcomers, visitors, families, seniors, volunteers, and community participants.
- Be present on Sunday mornings to welcome people, help newcomers feel connected, and assist people in finding pathways into the life of the church.
- Listen compassionately and respectfully to people’s stories, concerns, hopes, and ideas.
- Work collaboratively with the minister in identifying opportunities for connection, support, belonging, and community care.
2. Program Development & Coordination
- Develop, coordinate, and evaluate programs that encourage connection, creativity, learning, and community engagement.
- Help create intergenerational opportunities for participation and belonging.
- Develop children’s and family programming, including possibilities such as parent/child gatherings, play groups, seasonal events, and community-building activities.
- Encourage volunteer participation and help recruit, support, and coordinate volunteers where appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with staff and lay leaders to ensure programs align with the vision and values of St. Paul’s United Church.
3. Concert Series & Cultural Programming
- Coordinate and grow the St. Paul’s concert series as both a cultural offering to the wider community and a sustainable fundraising initiative.
- Liaise with performers, promoters, volunteers, and community partners.
- Assist with event planning, scheduling, hospitality, promotion, and audience development.
- Explore new arts, music, and cultural opportunities that strengthen the church’s presence in the wider community.
- Help ensure events are welcoming, organized, financially responsible, and community-focused.
4. Event Planning & Community Engagement
- Assist in planning and coordinating special events, workshops, gatherings, outreach initiatives, and community activities.
- Work with the Minister and Operations Coordinator to create programs and events that are engaging, welcoming, and well organized.
- Support communication and promotion of events through newsletters, social media, posters, and community networking.
- Help foster partnerships with community organizations, local groups, and arts initiatives where appropriate.

- Experience with community programming, arts programming, children’s programming, or volunteer coordination would be an asset
- Experience with marketing, promotion, social media, or community outreach would be an asset
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently while remaining part of a collaborative staff team
Position Details

- Status: Half-Time (.5 FTE)

- Some evening and weekend work will be required, including Sunday mornings

Pay: $29.00-$32.00 per hour
