Position: Community Service Worker
Pay Rate: $17.60 per hour
Hours per Week: 35 hours
Period: 2 Months (8 Weeks)
Job Summary:
The Community Service Worker will play a key role in supporting the planning, delivery, and evaluation of community-based programs that serve youth, seniors, and families. This position strengthens organizational capacity by enhancing service delivery in areas such as social inclusion, wellness promotion, and community engagement.
Working in a hybrid environment, the successful candidate will collaborate with program coordinators and community leaders both onsite and remotely. The role involves direct service delivery, event planning, and digital outreach, while creating safe, inclusive, and empowering spaces for participants. This position provides hands-on experience in community development, program coordination, event management, and stakeholder engagement, making it ideal for individuals pursuing careers in social services or community development.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Support & Delivery
- Assist in the implementation of community programs, workshops, and outreach initiatives targeting youth, seniors, and families.
- Provide direct support to participants during program activities, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive environment.
- Help facilitate group activities, discussions, and educational sessions under staff supervision.
Event Planning & Coordination
- Support the planning, coordination, and execution of community events, workshops, and outreach campaigns.
- Assist with event logistics including scheduling, venue setup, materials preparation, and participant registration.
- Contribute to event timelines, run-of-show plans, and post-event evaluations.
Outreach & Engagement
- Participate in community outreach efforts to promote programs and increase participation.
- Engage with community members, stakeholders, and partners to strengthen relationships and awareness of services.
- Assist in developing outreach materials (flyers, newsletters, and digital content).
Monitoring, Evaluation & Administration
- Collect participant feedback through surveys, interviews, and informal conversations to support program improvement.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, activities, and program outcomes.
- Assist with administrative duties including data entry, reporting, and documentation.
Supportive Services
- Provide referrals to community resources where appropriate.
- Identify and communicate participant needs or concerns to supervisors.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional and ethical standards.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Diploma or Degree in Social Work, Social Services, Community Service Worker, Personal Support Worker, Psychology, or a related field (completed or in progress).
- Strong interest in working with diverse populations, particularly youth, seniors, and marginalized communities.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment.
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, email, data entry).
- Experience or skills in graphic design (e.g., Canva, Photoshop), social media management, and email marketing will be considered a strong asset.
- Event planning and management skills are highly desirable.
- Experience in community service, volunteering, or program support.
- Understanding of equity, inclusion, and community empowerment principles.
