This full-time, on-site role supports day-to-day Human Resources functions across the agency, including recruitment coordination, onboarding, training compliance, benefits administration, employee records management, reporting, and workplace support initiatives.
The position is based in Cayuga and requires regular travel to Dunnville and other CLH locations, as required. Scheduled hours occur during regular office hours; occasional evening or weekend work may be required to meet operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate recruitment and selection processes
- Support onboarding and track mandatory training compliance
- Administer employee benefits and maintain personnel records
- Maintain accurate HR data and reporting
- Support compliance with legislation and MCCSS (QAM) standards
- Assist with workplace investigations and HR initiatives
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2–3 years of HR experience; not-for-profit experience considered an asset
- Knowledge of Ontario employment legislation
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; SharePoint experience an asset
- Valid G or G2 license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check
We are seeking an experienced HR Generalist to join our team. Under the direction of the Human Resources Manager, the HR Generalist will play a vital role in supporting the agency’s HR requirements and ensuring the smooth operation of various HR functions. You will have the opportunity to contribute to recruitment efforts, assist with employee relations, employee training and development, maintain accurate employee records, and provide support to all employees regarding HR-related inquires. A Day in the life at Community Living Haldimand:
With the support of the HR Manager you will:
- Be responsible for recruitment and participation in interview process
- Schedule and participate in hiring, orientation, and onboarding activities
- Enroll employees in benefit plans, respond to employee questions, update changes
- Maintain personnel files and electronic records
- Schedule and track mandatory training for employees
- Assist with the collection and reporting of required HR metrics
- Attend HR conferences, training and development courses
- Assist with development and implementation of agency-wide training plan
- Take on additional HR duties during temporary absence of the Human Resources/Office Manager, as required
- Adhere and be familiar with CLH Policies and Procedures
- Comply with CLH Health and Safety policies and practices
- Maintain confidentiality of information
Job Qualifications and Who You Are:
- College Diploma in Human Resources Management
- Certified Human Resources Professional designation (preferred)
- Three (3) years of HR work experience
- Experience in non-profit and familiarity with Developmental Services Sector (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of Ontario Labour Relations Act, Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Ontario Human Rights Code
- Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, SharePoint)
- Professional communication skills: strong written and verbal skills
- Teamwork: excels at working with others
- Problem-Solving: able to navigate challenges and barriers. Considers more than one option when addressing situations. Knows when to seek help from others
- Pro-active: anticipates problems and puts in place effective solutions in a timely manner
- High degree of flexibility and ability to multi-task in a busy environment with excellent attention to detail
- Valid Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle
- Fluency in written and spoken English is a requirement
