EVENTS/SOCIAL MEDIA COORDINATOR
Reports to: General Manager
The Events/Social Media Coordinator will work with all HBMR Managers to ensure events planned for Hudson Bay Mountain Resort are successful and the HBMR social media (Facebook, Instagram) and website are kept up to date. The coordinator works with stakeholders and vendors as directed by the managers, coordinates all event operations including final checks the day before an event, oversees the event and then evaluates the event with ideas for improvement and innovation for the next season. They work closely with the General Manger and Administration Assistant to ensure all social media platforms are being utilized to full advantage. They also plan and execute team functions.
The ideal candidate will build social media strategies that will run alongside mountain events, and review it's effectiveness through reporting. Content creation will also be a factor of this role, both in the form of creating videos / photos of the resort, as well as advertising events through creating posters.
Key Responsibilities
● Understand requirements for each event
● Plan event with attention to financial and time constraints
● Coordination and communication with stakeholders (vendors, bands, guests, HBMR staff)
● Manage all event operations (preparing venue, invitations etc.)
● Do final checks at the day of the event (e.g. tables, technology) to ensure everything meets standards
● Oversee event happenings and act quickly to resolve problems
● Evaluate event’s success and submit reports
● Actively utilize all social media platforms to engage with and ensure guests are kept up to date.
● Work with the General Manager to plan and execute team functions within budget.
● Build and present reports using Google analytics to help stakeholders understand digital acquisition through social media.
● Building a strategy to build long term social media growth.
● Creating video content to increase the visibility of users to social media platforms.
● Adopting current trends in social media video creation
● Event poster creation using Canva
● Create contract for, and work with local photographers for event and social use
● Create, recruit and oversee the events volunteer program
● Follow up with sponsors and share photos and event success
● Create eblast newsletters, with input from the Management team
● Ensure the website operational/events calendar is correct and up to date
Qualifications
● Proficient in MS Office
● Proficient in Canva
● Proficient in Wordpress and related CMS's
● Excellent vendor management skills
● Knowledge of basic recruitment practices
● Outstanding communication and negotiation ability
● Well-organized with multi-tasking skills
● Able to handle stress and remain calm
● Problem-solving ability
● Experience creating video content for social media
● Informed knowledge of social media strategy
● Proficient in Google analytics as well as other reporting tools.
● Ability to ski or snowboard
Education and Experience, Certificates and Licenses
● Degree in Marketing or relevant field is beneficial, but related experience will be considered
● Experience: At least 2 year of proven experience as a coordinator of successful events, preferably at ski resorts
● Valid class 5 drivers license with access to a reliable vehicle and a clean drivers abstract
● Knowledge of Hudson Bay Mountain and the Bulkley Valley area is preferred
