The Guiding Forest is looking for a PART TIME Early Childhood Educator to join our team!

We’re looking for someone to fill a part time role for 24 hours a week (plus additional lunch/vacation coverage as needed) starting in September. This position is for a Maternity leave so employment will be guaranteed until June 2027 with the possibility to continue on if a position opens up. Shifts would be 8am - 5 pm Wednesday-Friday/ (with 1 hour lunch breaks) Or 12pm-5pm Monday - Friday (Friday could also be 8-5 if preferred)
Eligible applicants must have strong interpersonal communication skills, a basic understanding of Reggio and Waldorf philosophies, be well versed in gentle guidance strategies, be able to task switch effectively, and have a love of child led emergent curriculum. Applicants must be open and willing to learn and work with neurodiverse and culturally diverse children and able to maintain a positive and caring view of each child through the lense of a behavioural detective. The ability to perform unbiased observations and any additional behavioural and developmental training is an asset. A love of nature and the outdoors is required (we are an all weather program and operate solely outside for 6 months a year).
Applicants must hold a minimum of an Early Childhood Educator Assistant certificate and be enrolled in a ministry approved institute and continuing studies towards a full ECE.
Priority will be given to fully certified Early Childhood Educators that are registered with the BC ECE registry.
Experience and additional training is an asset.
While we love, appreciate and recognise other languages as an amazing way to expose children to the diverse culture our community has to offer, the children and families in our care primarily speak English so successful applicants must be fluent in English. If you are fluent in English and speak another language we consider it a happy bonus for both the children and staff to learn from!

Pay: $21.00-$27.00 per hour
