Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Aluminum Window & Door Fabricator / Shop Manager to join our team. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines commercial aluminum fabrication, shop supervision, production coordination, and customer service responsibilities.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring projects are fabricated accurately, delivered on schedule, and completed to the highest standards of quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret architectural drawings, shop drawings, and project specifications.
- Fabricate commercial aluminum window, door, storefront, and entrance systems.
- Cut, machine, assemble, and glaze aluminum frames and related products.
- Operate fabrication equipment, including saws, punches, routers, and other shop machinery.
- Ensure all products meet project specifications and company quality standards.
- Maintain accurate measurements and attention to detail throughout the fabrication process.
Shop Management & Operations
- Coordinate daily shop workflow, production schedules, and priorities.
- Monitor project timelines and ensure production deadlines are achieved.
- Manage material inventory and coordinate ordering requirements with management.
- Receive, inspect, and organize incoming shipments from suppliers and freight carriers.
- Maintain accurate receiving records and report damaged or missing materials.
- Promote and maintain a safe, clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
Service Work & Customer Orders
- Complete customer shop orders and service requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Repair and rescreen window and door screens.
- Cut and prepare plate glass and glazing products to customer specifications.
- Prepare materials and completed products for customer pickup or installation crews.
- Assist customers, contractors, and suppliers visiting the shop as required.
- Maintain a high standard of workmanship and customer service on all projects.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience fabricating commercial aluminum windows, doors, storefronts, curtain wall systems, or related glazing products.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
- Experience with Kawneer, Windspec, Alumicor, or similar commercial aluminum systems is considered a strong asset.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Previous experience leading a fabrication team or managing shop operations is preferred.
- Forklift certification or operating experience is an asset.
- Ability to safely lift and handle aluminum framing, glass, and related materials.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to quality workmanship.
